At bmid, we determine each client’s goals and project requirements. We consider how the space will be used and how people will move through it. We’ll sketch preliminary design plans and specify materials and furnishings, such as lighting, furniture, wall coverings, window treatments, flooring, equipment, accessories and artwork. We can create a timeline for the interior design process and estimate a project’s cost.

Curves with a reason.
The home’s original round window gave us the cue, and we happily followed it.
Because when you draw your ideas from the architecture rather than Instagram, they tend to stick around a lot longer.

Some projects are measured in square metres. The best ones are measured in trust.

Ten years ago, these wonderful clients found us through a magazine article after purchasing a glorious, but neglected,Federation / Edwardian home from 1904. The house already hinted at its colourful soul, thanks to the spectacular stained glass commissioned by its original builder.

Our client loved mid-century design, colour and collecting art. She didn’t want a precious interior—she wanted a home that welcomed you in and gave you a hug.

Over the past decade we’ve transformed the home room by room, extension by extension. We’ve watched the children grow up, the art collection flourish, and the house become everything it was meant to be—a joyful conversation between Federation architecture and mid-century design.

Thank you to our wonderful clients for trusting us on this extraordinary journey. We can’t wait to return in years to come and see the garden mature, embracing this colourful home.

The best heritage homes aren’t frozen in time. They honour the past while embracing the lives being lived in them today. That’s where the magic happens. A country install on Monday gave us the perfect excuse to escape a little early.

A weekend wandering through Millthorpe, dinner at the always brilliant Tonic, antique hunting in Orange, the serenity of Cowra’s Japanese Garden, and a winter walk around Temora’s beautiful Centenary Lake.

Good food. Great finds. Endless country views. And enough inspiration to fill the sketchbook for weeks.

Turns out “research” looks remarkably like a country road trip.

The best design events don’t just showcase products—they transport you somewhere else.

The evening began with martinis at the launch of the new V-ZUG space at Winning Appliances before stepping into the wonderfully immersive world of Andrew Martin at Coco Republic with Belle magazine . Every room a story waiting to be discovered—a celebration of colour, pattern, personality.

The biggest surprise of the night? Catching up with the globe-trotting Lisa Burdus Lisa Burdus Design Proof that sometimes the design world really is one very stylish village... with excellent martinis. Tanya Buchanan Kritzler Interiors

A day in the country for quoting and deliveries. The work was rewarding... but meeting the locals stole the show. Apparently we share two things: red hair and Scottish ancestry. One of us wears it slightly better.

From the street, Crawford Place kept its secrets. Behind the simple industrial façade was a home layered with colour, collections and unexpected moments.

Perhaps that’s the theatre designer in me. Every home deserves a sense of anticipation, a reveal and a little bit of magic.

Anyone can buy furniture.

Character is harder to source.

“It’s the details that reveal who we really are as people.”

A vintage mirror from a Miami Beach market has outlived trends, crossed continents and reinvented itself in home after home.

The best interiors aren’t just collections of expensive things—they’re collections of meaningful ones. Every object should earn its place, bringing with it a little history, a little soul, and another chapter in the story of the people who live there. Some rooms deserve a second life... on canvas.

I painted one of my favourite living rooms for a wonderful client—a room wrapped in deep blue to make the original mahogany sing. Layered with pieces from different eras, it was designed for Manhattans, mischief and conversations that somehow lasted until midnight.

Now the painting hangs in the home that inspired it. A portrait of a place already rich with stories. Thomas Dalhoff Photography Cromwell Pelle Leathers Space Furniture South Pacific Fabrics
