A lot of people ask me ‘What is Soda bread?’ The simple way to answer is we use bi-carbonate of ‘soda’ with buttermilk in our recipe, which when added to your bread mix works as a leavening agent instead of a natural yeast.
This bread is is low in saturated fat, cholesterol and rich in dietary fibers.
We add a touch of Guinness and black treacle for that added bold & sweet flavour.
A true classic from Ireland that will always play a part in my life wherever I go ☘️🍞

Due to the nature of Rye flour these guys are very low in Gluten and have a slight heavier texture to your average sourdough loaf.
Once baked we let them sit for over 12 hours and leave the dough to rest which will ripen the bread and develop a much stronger flavour and less gummy texture.
