Ahi Kã Lanterns

Ahi Kã Lanterns KEEP YOUR HOME FIRES BURNING! Recently, I discovered a newfound passion for macrame, prompting me to explore various styles of pot hangers.

Te Ahi Kaa, the name lovingly given to my youngest daughter by her aunty Dee, became the driving inspiration behind Ahi Ka Lanterns. As my creativity flourished, I decided to incorporate lights into my designs, transforming simple pot hangers into beautifully illuminated lanterns. "Ahi Ka" refers to the concept of keeping the home fires burning. It embodies the idea of maintaining a connection to

one's ancestral land, culture, and traditions. It is about preserving the spiritual and physical connection to the land and the people who have lived on it for generations. The concept of "Ahi Ka" has gained renewed relevance and importance in contemporary times, especially in discussions about land rights, cultural preservation, and sustainability. It reminds the Māori people and others of the importance of maintaining their cultural roots and protecting the environment for future generations. A flame can also represent The Symbol of Life: Whether it's a solitary act or part of a communal ritual, the act of keeping a flame burning in memory of someone who has passed is a deeply personal and meaningful way for individuals to cope with their loss and keep the memory of their loved one alive. It offers solace and a sense of connection during times of grief and helps in the process of healing.
