Bondi Beach Residence: a study in warmth texture and restraint.

Soft internal finishes may considered formed with each element using to bring depth without demand demanding attention.

A space that feels collected rather than decorated. Refined, tactile and quietly expressive.

Our approach to creating spaces that fill as good as they look.

The kitchen pass: the heartbeat of the space.

Designed to support the pace, precision and theatre of hospitality without compromising the character of the building.

The heritage fabric of North Wollongong Boathouse shaped every decision: warm timber, tactile finishes and honest materials sit alongside a highly considered, hardworking kitchen. The result is a space where functionality is embedded into the design, rather than designed around it.

Because in hospitality, beautiful design only works when it works hard.

A coastal bar built on texture and craft.

Hand-made zellige tiles in soft blue, bordered by oxblood burgundy provide a focal point and anchor to the space. Paired with natural stone and warm timber moulded niches, custom tiled bar tables and stools and hand-woven rattan pendants results in a deeply layered and dynamic space.

Every element is bespoke, and we leaned into what was already apparent in the building’s architecture; the coffered ceiling and aluminium-framed windows became the starting point, not an obstacle. Working with these elements layered together created something that feels dynamic, intentional, and in every way harmonious.

A palette of warm timber, tactile travertine and textured render is softened by sculptural warmly-lit wall sconces, and repetition of design language is the use of arches, creating an atmosphere that feels inviting, enveloping and unmistakably coastal.

The design aimed to restore the building’s original spirit, reconnecting fragmented elements of its history.

Heritage tiles found in the basement informed the palette and material choices.
New elements were introduced as respectful references to the Art Deco era, including copper light fittings that nod to the original architecture.

Panoramic views of the Wollongong coastline provided a second design cue. Rich burgundies, soft blues, sunrise yellows, rattan, and layered greens echo both heritage and setting.

Rather than reinventing, the project sought to uncover and reconnect its identity. The outcome feels warm, contemporary, and true to place.
