DA lodged for a major ‘alterations & additions’ project in north Bondi.

The existing freestanding homes footprint is largely maintained but actually reduced at the rear to open up living spaces to the garden and new swimming pool.

An additional storey of accomodation is added with bedrooms for a growing family.

All set in a peaceful backstreet of this popular suburb, the design respects its neighbours in form and scale.

Large setbacks and deep window reveals minimise overshadowing and overlooking and extensive landscaping, cascading from planters and balcony zones, all contribute to soften the visual impact.

Existing proportions of openings are respected and mirrored in the new upper storey addition with materials chosen to reflect the beachside location but in a refined contemporary composition.

A layer of Blackbutt timber detailing, inside and out, adds warmth and texture to the classic white beach house vernacular.
