OVER AND OUT.... another year done and dusted.

It has been a HUGE year of growth for this little-but-mighty studio of ONE.

As I wrap up loose ends, my mind wanders to visions of holiday bliss: peaceful beach days, uninterrupted reading sessions, and zen moments in nature.

But let’s keep it accurate - my tiny humans have other plans…..

Think 5 am wake-up calls for breakfast, sand kicked in my eyes and ALL over my towel at the beach; reading will be reduced to books on bugs and cicadas.

But you know what?

Even with sand in places, sand should never be; this break is exactly what the creativity juices require.

Thank you to all my exceptional and trusting clients.
Seven homes are in a magical flow state, which means 2025 is going to be a total 📸 KNOCKOUT.

Thank you to my hard working, trusty trades (💘 you!).

The Joinery Edit is cooking up something SPICY. Get ready for education with a twist that’ll make your design brain do backflips. We’re not just pushing the boat out - we’re strapping a 🚀to it!

BENCHTOPS| The little workhorse that gets a constant daily pounding.

Interior designers widely debate whether one benchtop finish exists that will satisfy even the most demanding and tick all the boxes...

💥 Cost
💥 Size
💥 Durability
💥 Sustainable
💥 Attractive (colours, appearance, touch)
💥 100% safe to machine
💥 Gentle on the environment?

Dirty little secret time, now that I have piqued your interest?

NO.... There is no magic 🦄.
Pleasing everyone and ticking all the boxes is impossible.

Ultimately, it’s what you or a client see value in, or that is a priority for the project.

Colour Me Bad Travertine | A little visual sensation 💦

I don’t want to make accusations about things that happened in the past, but I will.

99% sure Mother Nature was at a music festival, the equivalent of Burning Man (10,000000 years ago). She was dancing, sweating, and depositing minerals left, right, and centre. The result is travertine with a spicy, colourful kick!

And we all know the other stones want what she is having.

Here are some examples of colour Travertine coming in HOT. As always, designers are credited below:

Travertine 101| The Beige Edit

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine is a sedimentary rock primarily composed of calcium carbonate.

👩🏼‍🔬 It forms in underground rivers, caves, and hot springs through mineral precipitation.

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine consists predominantly of calcite and may contain trace minerals like iron oxides and silica.

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine can vary widely; different minerals and impurities contribute to its diverse colours, including cream, beige, tan, silver, rust, pink, yellow, red, and walnut.

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine is known for its distinctive linear patterns and pitted textures resulting from its natural formation processes.

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine can be cut from the block in two methods: vein or cross-cut. A vein-cut slab shows the stratification “lines” of the Travertine.

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine with fewer pits or holes can be viewed as a high quality.

👩🏼‍🔬 Slabs can be sold unfilled or filled, the latter referring to a treatment in which the natural voids within the stone are filled with resin or cement.

👩🏼‍🔬 Travertine is generally durable, making it suitable for use in high-traffic areas. However, its durability can vary based on factors such as the type of travertine, the finish applied, and the specific application.

👩🏼‍🔬 Because Travertine is part of the limestone family, the presence of calcium carbonate means it is susceptible to etching.

The above is general only; stone properties vary depending on the mineral composition, impurities and geological conditions during formation. Ask your stone supplier to determine the specific grade of a stone slab.

Write a caption... Ribbed for extra (viewing) pleasure. 👀

Ribbed glass is pretty on the eye, offering diffused light and a cheeky little hint of privacy.

She rolls with a few names, fluted, textured, obscure glass, narrow line or reeded, which can be confusing as they differ.

In a nutshell:

Reeded glass concaves INWARDS.
Ribbed glass curves OUTWARDS.

If I haven't lost you yet - both are available in different widths: 4mm, 5mm, 8mm, 12mm etc. The higher the number, the bigger the gap between the reed OR rib.
