In this series, we’ll share research-backed insights and practical strategies on:
Operational efficiency & cost reduction
Material durability & sustainability
Liveability, daylight & acoustic quality
Community & resident wellbeing

AJH+ On the Drawing Board
COMING SOON: In South West Sydney, a new community of 100 homes and community facilities is taking shape — designed within a beautiful landscape setting.
This project is about more than downsizing or housing target numbers— it’s about crafted architecture and crafted communities

This project reimagines what it means to downsize, creating homes that are social, connected, and surrounded by nature.

Our goal: to design the best homes for later living — where independence, community, and landscape come together. 🌿
Homes that connect people to place, nature, and one another. 🌿

Great insights including the need for industry reform to the long-term impacts of inaction on housing supply.
At , we believe urgency must not override quality or sustainability principles. Thoughtful, long-term design is how we build better — not just more- creating legacy! .paul

Housing: the challenge of our time.
Last week, I had the privilege of speaking on two panels focused on housing solutions — from international best practice to local action.
👉 Austrian Consulate Summit
Exploring Vienna’s benchmark model — where 55% live in non-stigmatised municipal or limited-profit housing.
🔹 Funding + maintenance
🔹 MMC leadership (Binderholz)
🔹 Lessons for NSW
shared:
⚠️ MMC is still underdeveloped in NSW
⚠️ Local planning delays persist
⚠️ 3% affordable housing target falls short globally
👉 Sydney Build Expo
Focused on mid/high-density living — not just houses.
🔹 Compact & family housing
🔹 Amenity + green infrastructure
🔹 Is the “forever home” still relevant?
advocated:
✅ Design for long-term living
✅ Keep quality benchmarks high
✅ Build with flexibility + sustainability in mind
Proud to represent AJH+ in these timely discussions.
📣 It’s time to move from policy to action.
🧠 “All of it, everywhere, all at once”
(Yes, I talk with my hands 😄)
