Hobbe is the brainchild of mum to two, Samantha Hobbelen. The Hobbe concept was created in 2014 when Samantha was struggling to find a stylish, comfortable and affordable rocking chair to feed and settle her then two week old son Hugo. Combining her love of interior design, styling and passion for beautiful furniture the Hobbe vision was brought to life. Every chair is handcrafted with longevity i

n mind. We produce beautifully handcrafted rocking chairs with timeless style & supreme comfort, constructed from durable & sustainable materials, and using only the finest quality fabrics. We want memories to be made in our chairs, whether it be feeding, reading or resting. The chairs and matching ottomans have been designed specifically to satisfy a wide aesthetic, and all with a common thread of elegance and sophistication. The collection includes contemporary and traditional styles with signature neutral colourways to allow customers to add their own identity and personality with soft furnishings including blankets, cushions and rugs. Samantha lives in Sydney with her husband, Peter and their two gorgeous sons, Hugo and Harvey.

HOW DO YOU FEEL?
The question I have been asked most since putting Hobbe on the market to sell.

It’s mixed emotions over here.
I’m so proud of what’s been built.
I’m grateful to the village who have stood with me along the way.
And incredibly grateful to every single customer and fan.
For not only making Hobbe a part of their home, but allowing us into their pregnancy and baby experience.

But the most overwhelming feeling is the knowing. That the timing is right. That it’s time for me to step aside and for the next person to step in and take Hobbe into its next chapter of its beautiful business journey.

I started Hobbe because I was pregnant and couldn’t find a beautiful and functional rocking chair. All the comfortable ones were incredibly ugly (in my humble opinion) and the beautiful ones I could only find in the US. So, I took our life savings and took a punt on the fact if I couldn’t find what I was looking for, then other expectant parents in Australia might be in the same boat. And turns out we were all the in same boat.

I had a dear friend give me a crash course on Instagram (after I joined up).
Another incredible human and now dearest friend provided sage counsel and welcomed me into the fold that is the baby industry in Australia.

I ordered our first container of chairs and much to my delight (and dismay) they all pre-sold out within weeks.

Before we had any stockists, we would host private viewings in our home in Sydney, where we would get around 20 women at a time coming to view and purchase their Hobbe. More about that wonderful experience another time.

They were humble beginnings.
But right from the outset to now, the core of Hobbe remains.
We are about beautiful quality products.
And we are about people.
