As the commercial pressures of the season ramp up, can we step away or sideways for a day?

As we do every year, we're closing the shop all day this Black Friday and instead observing Buy Nothing Day 2021.

It's a small thing, but it matters to us.
This year, same as ever, the pressure to try and make as much money over the festive period is intense. Business is hard and uncertainty and crumbling economic circumstances are starting to bite. We want you to buy lots of our things!

We're in the same boat as every other small creative project, trying to survive, but this is a moment in which to remember:

This frenzy, this rush for The Stuff - it is madness. Life is so short, in the end. Lets not spend it accumulating stuff to support the thrashing beast of Late-Stage Capitalism.

If you can, maybe join us?

We know that many of you rely on the bargains of Black Friday - so, of course, go for it if that makes sense. Use your leverage however you're able. We're really not here to look down our virtuous noses at anyone! But, because we can, we'll be stepping out to remember: it's the Magic that matters, not the Stuff. However and wherever you find it, we hope that this is a tiny reminder to attend to that magic in the midst of the material maelstrom.
