More is most *definitely* more when it comes to India Block Printing, so while it’s been blowing a hoolie outside I’ve been road testing some new blocks and playing with some old ones in preparation for Saturday’s lampshade making workshop. The beauty of block printing is it can be as simple, crisp and contemporary as you like as - or as fun, colourful, and complex - it truly offers something for everyone - and is the perfect way to spend a relaxed creative day. For Melbourne Design Week, Ink & Spindle opens their spacious, light-filled studio, offering an immersive experience of colour, texture and print.

Within the Convent’s heritage-listed walls, the team screenprint Australian landscape-inspired designs on their large thirteen metre print table.

Guests are invited to observe a live printing demonstration, guided through the detailed process of large-format screenprinting. The session also explores the intersection of small-scale manufacturing, sustainable production values and environmentally conscious interior design.

This is a rare opportunity to see traditional textile printing in action and gain insight into thoughtful, local design production.
