Mum and Johnnie shared many years together and this day is just something else that will bind them forever.

Johnnie wanted Mum to be with us at his last birthday, we sat in church holding hands supporting each other as we said goodbye to Mum. Little did I know that would be his last birthday.

Rest in peace Mum and Johnnie!
I miss them both every day, but I know that they are together in heaven.

Dear Johnnie,

Another year has come to remind me that I had a really special brother in my life. I didn’t always say how much I appreciated you; but we often take for granted those who mean the most to us.

On your last birthday you insisted that Mum should be there; and so you shared your day as we farewelled Mum. Mum was always there for your other birthdays and you wanted Mum to be there.

I miss you and our regular conversations. I miss your messages and your very special cards. No one else in my life has ever taken the time and effort to choose cards the way you did.

I have so many memories of me looking after my little brother; but, I also have many memories of my little brother looking after me!

You enjoyed cooking and making meals; whereas I just didn’t care. I would be happy with a can of beans. So many memories of you making meals for me, especially after Mum was gone.

We were both hurting as we sat together in church holding hands and supporting each other! I didn’t know that would be the last birthday you would share with me.

I think about the many times I had a supportive friend and brother, and I know that I will always have you close in my heart. You were always a good brother to me.

I know that you’re with Mum and that you no longer have issues with your health.

I just wish I knew how much you were hurting then. I just wish that we had more time together and that your last birthday wasn’t such a sad one for you.

Rest in peace my dear brother and friend. I will always remember you and know that I always had someone who loved me and had my back.

One of the most special prayers I remember Mum teaching me is “The Magnificat”, or “The Canticle to Mary”. It always brought her great peace and comfort throughout her life. Mum never lost her faith; and in her most difficult moments I witnessed her great love for Our Lord. She never faulted, she believed even to the end.

How lucky was I to have her in my life and for her to teach me so much. A woman of great faith, courage and love.

Catholics dedicate the month of May to Our Lady and great mother Mary. What a blessing that Mum should be taken to Our Father during such a special time.

Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising
Fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array.
My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my saviour,
for he hath regarded the humility of his hand maid

Hey Mum!

Another year gone by, and I miss you every day; the sadness never goes away.

I miss your infectious smile and I miss hanging out with you. I miss having cups of tea together and our chinwags about nothing and everything!

How lucky was I to be able to share so much time with you and to know you loved me; I just took it for granted that you would always be here.

Those days before you left, I didn’t what to miss anything; so I tried to pay attention to everything! I knew that you were on borrowed time and I was making memories.

Every conversation and every meal shared were opportunities to learn just a little bit more from you!

You were my mother and my teacher; my mentor and my best friend!

I will love you always!💝
