Specialising in hand knotted, custom designed rugs, we use only natural fibres like New Zealand or Tibetan Sheep wool, Chinese silk, Hemp , Nettle and Bamboo. Hand knotted rugs are the king of the rug world for which there is no other alternative to decorate the space whether it’s in home, office or hotel. These rugs are produced using ancient techniques in a loom with many designs and colors. Num
ber of columns of threads depending upon the density of the rug is stretched from the top to the bottom Called warps and they are the foundation of the rug. Once the warp threads are arranged, then the actual production begins in flat weave for 10-12 rows to give it secure ends. Then the weaver begins the knotting process according to the graph design in which each square denotes the single knot in the specified color of yarn to the entire width of the loom and so on with second rows. After every row of knots, the weaver inserts the “weft” which is the flat weave thread that holds the knot below in place. This process continues till the desired size been woven and the finishing pattern should be similar to the start. A variety of finishes and textured can be achieved through loop pile, cut pile, special hand dyeing technique and a chemical wash to enhance the unique appearance of the rug. Once the rug is completed, it then sheared to produce the uniform surface, hand washed to develop the luster and finally dried.
