Oats and wheat cooked in whey left over from making ricotta cheese, with an egg thrown in!

Today's been the first day that's felt like winter is upon us...A good day to spend in the kitchen!!

I've made some Rosemary Salt 🌿, made and preserved some Chargrilled Capsicums 🫑 with the excess I have at the moment, and pickled some cucamelons 🥒 in some home grown dill 🌿, home grown garlic 🧄, home grown onions 🧅, and a few other spices, and I've got some bay leaves 🍃 from my tree in the dehydrator drying ready for winter soups.

It's about 2 years in the making... but we are getting super close to getting chickens! Chicken run got put in the orcha...

It's about 2 years in the making... but we are getting super close to getting chickens! Chicken run got put in the orchard yesterday, however we soon realised there's a lot of work to do to level it and fox proof it. 🙄
Anyway, it's close enough for me to start getting excited and thought I better actually start learning about being a mum of chookies! 🐔🐔🐔🐔

Just this week I've been gifted lemons and butter beans from a lady I've done a little gardening for, a huge box of delicious apricots from a neighbour, and plums from another lovely neighbour! Lucky me! And I've been exchanging zucchinis!! Haha 😆
I will return some apricots to my neighbour in the form of apricot jam, and will also gift some as part of my 'Home Made' Christmas gift packages!

It's Zucchini season!! YAY!!
First one of the season. I got mine in super early this year, then had to cover them nightly to protect them from the severe late frosts we had. 🤨❄️ But they are flourishing in the protected spot I've planted them... just under the edge of the maple trees where they get regularly watered from our treated septic/grey water.
