‘Serenade Moondance’ is a lovely big fluffy ruffly bloom that I’ve been growing for four years now. Mardi from Mardi - West Gippsland Flower Farm has been building up stock so that we can let her out wild into the world, so I hope you’re on her email list if you’re hoping to add her to your collection 🥰
To get the deep round blooms that you see in most of these photos, she does need some cool days… I find she’ll perform best very early and later in the season here in the subtropics. In midsummer here she can tend to being a bit shallow and dropping back petals before she fully opens out. It may be our humidity along with heat that tends to do that I think, as it happens with other named cultuvars here at that time too 🤔
What I actually love most about here, as well as being a great cut for wedding installations, is that she gives such delicious seedlings! If you’ve read my most recent book you’ll see the line I’ve been developing further that resulted from her seed.
She’s a tall strong plant when I grow her here, and very robust and healthy.
I know that many of you have been watching her journey from very early on when she was such a standout in the 2022 season in her ‘Coorabell Jessie’ seed parent block. So different from her mum, and I have a hunch that the pollen parent was a strong cut flower white waterlily that I was growing back then.
