​ I have combined my equal loves of LUXE linen with bright, and bold colour combinations.

Bright Threads is tabletop linen turned on its head - as beautiful, bright, eclectic, textured and mixy matchy as you want it to be. Fond childhood memories, and a passion for entertaining is the inspiration behind creating beautiful tablescapes while playfully mixing patterns and prints. My focus is tabletop textiles - napkins, runners, and tablecloths, aprons and tea towels - and recently I added colourful resin napkin rings.

She turns 10 on Sunday. And I have been thinking about that a lot.

Skye has been with me through every single stage of building Bright Threads. From the very first shoot - when she was two and a half and I was heavily pregnant - to Bali, to Sea Change, to right now.

She even designed a collection for me. That collection still means everything to me. I have saved pieces to gift her when she’s older.

I started Bright Threads because I couldn’t find what I was looking for. Table linen that was joyful and imperfect and made for the kind of hosting that is relaxed and generous and genuinely fun.

The kind where the napkins don’t match on purpose. Where starters are served at the kitchen bench so people find each other before they sit down. Where the old preserve bucket at the end of the bench is full of ice and wine and nobody has to ask where anything is.

I realised a long time ago that I was making this for myself. And for everyone who hosts exactly the same way.

Back home and already scrolling through the cookbooks for weekend meal inspiration. Some things never change.

And while we’re here - can we talk about linen tea towels for a second? The most hardworking thing in my kitchen. They wash brilliantly, get better with every use, and they actually absorb things. Revolutionary, I know. Same luxe quality as the table linens.

Ten days in my favourite place on earth. Sanur sunrises, the healer, the factory floor, Made and Sandi, and a special guest appearance from my brother Gus - making sure Seminyak knew we’d arrived.

What would I be without these two.

Ten years. That is how long Sandi and Made have been by my side - and I am not sure Bright Threads would exist in the way it does without them.

Sandi runs operations with a precision and care that I could never replicate. She is the reason every piece lands the way it should. Made gets me everywhere safely, knows everyone, and debriefs me on everything on the way home. He is my ears, my guide and one of my favourite humans on this earth.

We have endured a lot together. The hard trips and the great ones. The seasons that didn’t work and the collections that did. Through all of it we are still here, still showing up, still making something I am genuinely proud of.

That is not nothing. That is everything.

Here’s to ten years and whatever comes next.

The best medicine for burnout that nobody is prescribing. 🌺

Not a beach holiday. Not a wellness retreat. Something completely different - a week in Bali where you step so far outside your ordinary life that you come home a different version of yourself.

We talk a lot about switching off. But what if the answer wasn’t to do less - it was to do something completely different? To use your hands. To learn something. To click your brain into a creative gear and feel genuinely alive again.

That is a craftcation. And it is the kind of holiday you come home from not just rested but refilled.

I have been travelling to Bali for over 40 years. Nearly a decade ago I started Bright Threads and I am still working with the same people - Sandi, who runs operations and makes everything happen, and Made, who gets me everywhere safe, on time and most importantly debriefs me on all the gossip on the way home.

In August those doors open for 16 people.
