Paris design fair Maison & Objet has just been and gone and after reading all the reviews and highlights there were a few trends that stood out. One key thing was the thinking that the best pieces feel discovered, not designed - think things with a story. I love it when clients have something unique that they want to showcase. Another trend I'm loving is the seating built for conversation/ connection. Circular sofas, swivel chairs, flexible ottomans which are so easy to incorporate into a living space. As for colours, pale pink and ochre were highlighted again and again, showing up as small accents against warm neutrals - using scatter cushions or throws is a great way to incorporate a trending colour. Here are some images from projects I have worked on which tie in to these trends.

This modern kitchen and living space is full of beautiful details. At the kitchen bench, the barstools add a sleek, contemporary touch, while pendant lighting overhead brings a lovely modern finish to the kitchen. In the living area, the ottoman adds colour as well as a practical extra seat or footrest when needed - its earthy tones paired with the textured scatter and cushions tie the whole room together.

This open-plan living space has been transformed. The rounded Kuatro sofa anchors the room beautifully, while the arm chairs and ottoman work together to separate the living zone from the open dining area. Pops of green through the cushions and armchairs complement the light rug and sofa perfectly, and the gold and ochre scatters tie it all together - perfectly meeting the owners' brief for warm, natural tones.

Dulux recently released three palettes for the 2027 collection, all built around a theme of wanting authenticity and human connection in an increasingly digital, AI-driven world. The colours are meant to feel "personal, expressive and deeply human."

The three palettes:
-Sensory: a soft palette of botanical greens, rich browns and a light blue with tan and wheat tones. Designed to feel calm, enduring and considered.
-Play: pastels alongside berry and vibrant orange, plus a cornflower blue and spearmint, with navy and warm brown included.
-Treasure: berry and gold tones against deeper shades with a teal coral pink for contrast -think antique or heirloom pieces.

The dining room in this open living space has been transformed using natural timber and colour to tie in with the rest of the home. The pendants add a beautiful warmth and the curves in the quality timber furniture add softnes. The feature print ties in with the furnishings in the living space perfectly to bring the room together.

For this project, our brief was to furnish the home in a way that complemented the existing hard surfaces - warm timber floors and a white kitchen - with our clients' preference for light oak furniture and earthy tones. In the formal living room, we centred two sofas anchored by a statement rug and coffee table, with a buffet placed adjacent to the fireplace. The mirror above reflects both the furniture and the front garden. Neutral tones with soft accents of green and ochre set the tone for the rest of the home.
