Our ideas are born from understanding what is most valuable to our clients, and our approach demonstrates our passion for not only the finished project, but for the creative process as a whole. Irrespective of the type or size of development, our philosophy at C. Kairouz Architects is to approach all situations with a clean slate to enable us to asses the best outcome for our clients. In doing so, we are able to tackle each challenge in a unique manner; dispel any assumptions or limitations; and allow for the best possible creation. The results confidently showcase that the fresh C. Kairouz Architectural aesthetic is stylistic in form, practical in function and quality through the finer detail.

Butterfly House | As featured in

In the kitchen, restraint defines the outcome.

Joinery is kept soft and neutral to reduce visual clutter, allowing timber, stone and brick to carry texture, durability and light.

“We were looking for a calm, cohesive aesthetic inspired by an earthy Australian palette,” notes Interior Design Director, Sammy Kairouz.

Material as object.

What happens when material is allowed to lead? Reduced to its essentials, each element is resolved as a singular form, defined by weight, proportion and edge.

- Stone is carved to hold volume and depth
- Junctions are minimised to maintain clarity
- Fixtures are restrained, allowing material to take precedence

Across each space, variation emerges through tone and contrast—
from expressive veining to quieter, more restrained surfaces.

The material is not applied, but expressed. As object, surface and form.

Framing a view is rarely accidental.

A window is not simply an opening.
It’s a device for shaping experience—controlling what is seen, how it is revealed, and how it feels to occupy.

Across these spaces, the approach shifts:

- A narrow aperture compresses the view, heightening focus and drawing light deep into the plan
- A full-height opening establishes a direct and deliberate connection to the landscape
- A panoramic edge softens the boundary, allowing the room to extend beyond its physical limits

Each move alters the relationship between inside and out.
Not by increasing what is visible, but by refining how it is framed.

Which approach resonates most with you?

Accolade | A Modern Deco Statement

Accolade brings a refined yet expressive presence to Glen Iris, drawing inspiration from the elegance of art deco architecture. Sweeping cream brick curves frame the façade, creating a bold architectural gesture that is balanced by dark cladding, sweeping charcoal metal clad top and expansive full-height glazing.

These layered materials and sculptural forms establish a strong street presence while allowing light-filled interiors to unfold within.

A confident blend of heritage influence and contemporary living, Accolade celebrates craftsmanship, proportion and the enduring beauty of curved form.

CKA STUDIO | Classical Foundations with a Softer Expression

Designing for a child’s room requires a thoughtful balance between cohesion and creative freedom. While our Eastgate home embraces a French provincial architectural language, the children’s bedrooms allowed for a softer, more expressive interpretation of the overall style.

Playful hues of pink and apricot are introduced through styling, layered with delicate wallpapers and tactile finishes. Plain sheers temper the palette, diffusing light and bringing a sense of calm to the spaces

The result is a room that feels imaginative yet considered, honouring the home’s classical foundation while creating a space tailored to its youngest occupants.

Banquette seating, two ways — each shaped by space and daily use.

In the dedicated dining nook, the banquette is recessed into the wall to create a quiet, architectural zone for gathering. A continuous upholstered backrest softens the perimeter while the fixed base keeps the space visually calm and uncluttered, allowing the table and pendant to define the ritual of dining.

In tighter areas, the kitchen island becomes the anchor. The banquette is integrated directly into the island plinth, turning circulation space into usable seating without increasing the footprint. Cooking, working and dining overlap in a compact, highly efficient arrangement.

Two approaches, one outcome: built-in seating that saves space, reduces furniture bulk and supports flexible, everyday living.

Material Moments | Bonded House

Where everyday thresholds become tactile experiences.

At the entry, a finely detailed junction between warm timber door and textured brick establishes the home’s material dialogue — grounded, quiet, and precise.

Beyond, perforated steel stairs rise through a double-height void, filtering light into a soft, shifting gradient that animates the grey metal and surrounding masonry. Shadow, texture and joinery work together to reveal the house not as a sequence of rooms, but as a crafted spatial atmosphere.

A restrained palette, carefully resolved junctions, and natural light combine to express warmth, depth and material honesty from the very first step inside.

Kirra Gardens | Detail

At Kirra Gardens, the balustrade becomes architecture.

These off-form, timber-grain precast GRC planters are conceived as a continuous sculptural ribbon that wraps the façade—softening the building’s mass while giving it a distinctive identity. Their curved geometry contrasts the rectilinear brickwork, introducing rhythm, depth and shadow to the elevations.

More than a visual gesture, each planter is integrated into the balustrade line to house planting that will mature and spill over the edges, forming a living green veil. As the landscape establishes, the architecture will evolve—blurring the boundary between built form and garden.

Materially robust yet tactile in appearance, the timber-look finish references warmth and craft while maintaining the durability required for multi-residential living.

A single gesture that operates simultaneously as structure, landscape and façade.
