SHIPIBO-KONIBO POTTERY 🏺

The Shipibo-Konibo, are an indigenous people who primarily reside in the Amazon rainforest regions of Peru. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, particularly in the realms of art, spirituality, and traditional medicine.

It was a Tuesday afternoon when the unexpected happened.

A call interrupted the quiet rhythm of my pottery studio, on the other end was a guy inquiring about a few pottery pieces for a special project. With curiosity, I invited him over to check my work and see if he finds something.

When he arrived, he told me a little more about what he was looking for, and before I knew it, I found myself agreeing to make 25 pieces for his upcoming TV show.

Excitement mingled with fear as I start thinking. Could I truly deliver this many pieces in such a short time? Doubts crept in, but deep down, I knew I couldn’t let fear hold me back.

I only had 29 days to complete the order, without much time to make mistakes or do extra things. Every day, I woke up determined and focused because I had no other choice; the pieces had to be ready! There were moments of uncertainty, late nights glazing, and lots of prayers to be finish on time.

While packing the pieces, I reflected on this incredible month with gratitude and awe. Through perseverance and faith, I transformed fear and doubts into beautiful pottery pieces.
