Last week’s fun in store 🌼

Elsa’s gentle hands helped us preserve blooms for our little displays and musings. Pieces she saved from the florist’s workshop floor, destined for the bin, got a second life with us, now drying on our walls.

Senem set a beautifully warm and spicy table to help us welcome spring. The store is packed with bright yellow wattle, something the eyes seem to agree with once you notice the mustard tablecloth.

Eleanor had fun with fresh poppies to tie it all together. God, do we love poppies!!! For the front window, a blooming of wattle, kangaroo paw and (my favourite) dusty green eucalyptus.

Somehow, she still found time, just for the fun of it, to create a cascading hydrangea feature, dotted with yellow paper daisies, which now happily lives amongst our gift boxes.

No matter where you are in our little store, there’s always somewhere to stop and look, to wander and wonder, to take it all in.

The podcast nobody asked for but here it is— these are my three favourite ways to mix our signature Maya collection to suite any home.

We’re now into our fourth year of firing Maya, which is a bit wild. It was never designed to be the loudest piece on the table. The idea was actually the opposite.

When I created it, I wanted a neutral collection that could sit comfortably beside everything else we make. Not quite a plain white plate, but something with enough pigment, texture and speckling to hold its own without competing for attention.

One of my favourite things has been seeing how everyone uses it differently. Some people build an entire setting around Maya, while others mix it with our marbled pieces or bolder glazes to soften everything and create a bit of balance. It’s also looked surprisingly good alongside colourful linen and patterned table settings.

Because Maya shares the same shapes as all of our collections, it was always meant to be mixed and matched. (And many of you have done exactly that.)

We’re now mid firing another batch this month, with mugs being restocked soon, so I thought I’d share a few photos of the different ways we’ve styled Maya over the years. Hopefully it sparks a few ideas if you’re feeling like changing up your table this summer.

In the next post I will share the different ways you can mix in Maya either into pieces you already own or with our other signature collections.
