Castlery’s latest summer campaign was a special one for us.

When we style a shoot, our creative focus is usually on one home at a time; exploring its spaces, layers and unique personality through a series of settings within the home. It’s not often we’re given the opportunity to take that same creative direction and styling approach across two entirely different personal homes.

For this campaign, we spent two consecutive days working across the homes of two local creatives, Hannah Beaden and Jaharn Quinn, bringing their individual spaces and carefully selected Castlery pieces to life through campaign and editorial imagery.

Wholehearted Artist in Residence – Lauren Horton

We’ve been lucky enough to spend time basking in the creativity of artist Lauren Horton this year, welcoming her into the studio for a few Artist in Residence days. On one of those days, Lauren and I shook things up a little and worked together from my home studio instead.

Lauren was also the artist we featured in our recent shoot for Jacinta ~ Salt Living | French Flax Linen. I introduced Lauren and Salt Living, and it’s been so lovely to see the connection continue, with Salt now sharing a very special interview with Lauren Horton on their Journal.

Every year, a group of my friends and I head to Evans Head, a little coastal town on the Northern NSW coast. It’s my favourite time of year and I’m so grateful to them for introducing me to this beautiful part of Australia.

It’s a town that feels wonderfully untouched by time, with mid-century beach shacks, an old-school milk bar and a proper Australian pub. This year, though, I found myself becoming increasingly nostalgic.

We made trips to the local ice cream shop and milk bar, headed to the beach for a surf, and spent one day doing nothing but hanging out by the river while the kids went stand-up paddle boarding. We even played a round of lawn bowls and battled it out at the RSL Trivia night. 😆

And other days I was relaxing at the beach house.

It really does feel like time stands still there.

I hope this little collection of photos I took inspires you, as it has me, to slow down, enjoy our days and our homes, and stop to smell the roses with the people you love.

P.S. The last slide was my son’s first ever time catching a wave the first year we went! It is still once of my favourite videos of all time.

Take a look at the laundry and adjoining outdoor area from our shoot of ♥ 𝒟𝒾𝒶𝓂𝑜𝓃𝒹 𝒞𝑜𝓉𝓉𝒶𝑔𝑒 𝐵𝓁𝑜𝑜𝓂𝓈 ♥ for Country Style magazine.

There’s something so lovely about a space that works hard but still feels beautiful; somewhere to kick off muddy shoes, hang up the gardening gear, and move easily between the house and outdoors. And with Jules’ beautiful garden just beyond, this little corner of the home felt like such a natural extension of the way she lives.
