We've long shared a dream of living on a thriving permaculture farm. In 2016, we moved onto 14 acres with our two very young daughters and began 'Zahara'. We hope to run permaculture workshops and offer eco-tourist accommodation in the years to come. This land spoke to us from the very first time we saw it. We could see the vision that we are now working towards from that very first moment we step
ped onto the land. Five years into the journey, we're feel like we're still very much getting started.. There's four dams, roads, a converted shed (aka 'Fairy Wren' Cottage) that we're currently living in, a beginning orchard and food forest, baby pecans, fejoas, macas and avos, four cows and two calves, ducks, a maremma dog, a nursery, banana circles and a kitchen garden (total mess right now) and there's a market garden here, run by Harvest Owl. A shed is now coming out of the ground and the Zahara house, which has been a very long time coming, is finally starting to take shape which is super exciting. We take joy in bring broken things back to life and our latest endeavour here is trying to fix and install a second hand, broken pool. We sometimes feel we're moving a lot slower than many others on this same journey, but we're ok with that. We're just focusing on one sure foot hold in front of the other.
