What's New?
Over the last few weeks I've been buying Australian Opal roughs as well as opalised fossels/shells that are millions of years old.
Why you may be asking? Well I have decided that I'm going to make my artwork even more unique by adding these amazing things, Australia's National Gem to my beach paintings and some other resin art projects. Not only will this make my art more Australian than it already is but also way more valuable.
Stay tuned to see how I make this transition. ๐Ÿ˜Š

What's in the works Update:

Over the next month I will be frantically getting together some pieces for the upcoming Port Elliot Show, which will be held on October 10th & 11th. I am hoping to enter 2 pieces of wall Art in the open art section. I'm hoping to complete one mixed media piece and possibly one acrylic abstract piece this year. I am also hoping to get at least 6 resin art pieces completed for the craft section of the show.

I also need to start working on pieces for the Victor Harbor Art Show in January 2027. I'm planning on submitting another one of a kind chess set and at least 2 mixed media pieces. Possibly another 2 pieces, if manage to get them done in time.

On top of creating pieces for these shows, I will also be working my job I do outside of art and also heavily involved with the Victor Harbor Art Show, as a Committee Member.

I will try to keep everyone up to date with my art progress and what else is going on.

Incognito Art Show Update:
Sorry it has been a while since posted about my submissions for this show.
As you all know the first two pieces, at the Sydney Show sold on the first day within the first couple of hours. My whale shark one sold within the first hour and I've revealed those two pieces.
My third piece went to the Brisbane show. I'm excited to say that it also found a new home, within the first few hours of that show opening. The third piece was my first abstract acrylic leafy sea dragon.
Here are the photos of all three pieces revealed. Thank you to the new owners of all three pieces. I look forward to submitting pieces again next year and I'm so happy that the $300, from their sale, is going to such a worthy cause, assisting artists with disabilities.

Hoping to get some artwork done today, day off my bill paying job ๐Ÿ˜‚
I've also been busy buying some rough Australian opals and opalised fossels, that I will be using as inclusions in my mixed media, dimensional beach pieces for the rest of this year. I'm looking forward to playing around with this idea and I'm sure this will add value and a unique quality for collectors.

I can now reveal two of my art pieces that I donated to the Incognito Art Show 2026.
This was my first year submitting my art to this great Art Show, where the money from the sale of artworks goes to assist artists with disabilities.
My "Whale Shark" prototype for my "In the Shallows Collection" sold first, within the first hour of the Sydney exhibition opening their doors. My turtle piece "Into The Unknown" sold soon after. Both were mixed media dimensional art pieces.
I have a third piece of art in Brisbane that is very different for me and not mixed media. That one won't be for sale until that exhibition opens late July.

Yesterday the Sydney exhibition opened it's doors to the public, for the 2026 Incognito Art Show.
I'm thrilled to say that the two pieces that I donated sold really quickly, the first one sold within the first hour.
This is an amazing idea where all the money goes to help artists with disabilities.
I still have one other piece, which is part of the Brisbane exhibition, up for grabs. The Brisbane one isn't open until I think late July.

Starting off today with a play with resin. This piece will be minipulated once it is cured enough but still flexible. The ocean section will be mostly transparent and I will make a stand for it once fully cured.

Haven't had any time to do any artwork over the last few weeks. I'm looking forward to doing some tomorrow though.
I've also just ordered a 50cm round wooden cradle board for a challenging piece of mixed media, dimensional artwork, that I'm doing for the 2027 Victor Harbor Art Show. This piece will take me quite some time to do and I'm hoping I can make the vision I have in my head a reality.

Have had a reasonably productive day, in between procrastinating ๐Ÿค”
I have started the background painting for my second piece in the series I've called "In The Shallows Collection" This will be a mixed media piece. A sand textured base, done, with multiple layers of paint and resin for the whale and her calf, then a layer of sculpted translucent resin over the top to create a shallow water effect. The first in the collection was a whale Shark. Both pieces are 30x40cm.
I also did some more background blocking of colours for the base layer of my Pelican Seascape piece I'm working on. This will be my first attempt at painting a marine bird, actually any bird ๐Ÿ™‚ this piece will be in acrylic paints and measures 80cm x 60cm.
I also have completed the chess board sections for two Ocean inspired chess sets I'm currently working on. They have both turned out very similar in colour but also different. The marine animal in the base sculpted resin section are different and one of the chess boards has glow in the dark powder. I had left over resin so that created a glow in the dark frog. Resin is way too expensive to waste. Last year I made only one chess set and that sold so fast. This year I plan to make three sets, these two and a circular one. I Need to get more deep pour resin to begin the third one. The best of the three I plan to enter into the 2027 Victor Harbor Art Show.
Stay tuned as there is still a lot of work to be done on all pieces.
