Scentsy was started in Centerville, Utah, in July 2003 by Colette Gunnell and Kara Egan. Colette and Kara were both stay-at-home moms looking for a safer alternative to candles. Orville Thompson encountered the small company at a home show in early 2004 and brought some samples home. Orville and his wife Heidi were intrigued by the powerful emotions and memories the fragrances brought to the surfa

ce without the dangers of a burning candle. Orville and Heidi purchased Scentsy and relocated it to Meridian, Idaho, where it continues to grow very rapidly. Scentsy experienced a 400% increase in each of its first three years of operation. In 2010, Scentsy was named the number one consumer-products company on the Inc. 500 list and the number of current Scentsy Independent Consultants hit the 100,000 mark. Scentsy Consultants share the Scentsy experience throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, and in 2011, Scentsy expanded into Europe. Authentic Scentsy bars contain highly scented wax, made especially for authentic Scentsy warmers. They are leadless, wickless, flameless, and smokeless. There was a time in my life where my home carried the smell of survival.

Stress.Chaos.Emotional exhaustion.Trying to numb things I didn’t want to feel.

Now, I intentionally fill my home with scents that make me feel safe, calm, grounded, and proud of the life I’m rebuilding.

That’s one of the reasons I started this little scent business.

People think candles and home fragrance are just “nice things” — but honestly, scent changes energy.

It changes how a home feels.How your nervous system feels.How your evenings feel.How YOU feel.

Sobriety taught me that healing isn’t only about removing what hurts you.

It’s also about replacing it with rituals that support the person you’re becoming.

So now I light the candle. I melt the wax. I make the tea.I romanticise the peace I fought hard for.

And I hope these scents help other people create moments of comfort, calm, and home too 🤍
