Called this one " Strike Me Lucky "
Why did l call this strike me Lucky?
If it was me ,with the truck so high off the ground, it wouldn't be strike me Lucky, because everything off the ground must return to the ground with a bang or a crash.
They don't make them like today.
Leaving it for your imagination.? Please comment would really love to here from you! Rob

My inspiration for this painting was that l heard a story about a couple of guys who tryed there luck at opal mining and struck it lucky.
In a short time they made over 12 million dollars.
They kept mining and never made another DOLLAR.
I painted a picture of a mining truck with a truck load of opals.
As they say, lightening never strikes in the same place twice
Hope this story gives you encouragement to visit Lightning Ridge and you never know, you might get the bug to mine,...
Comments appreciated

Called my painting "A lucky strike"

Went to lightening Ridge Outback opal tours with Stacey our tour guide.
I was looking for good photos to paint of the opal fields, pubs, machinery and old characters.
Stacey was a good Outback Opal Tours guide.
I took her photo at the club in the scrub.Very nice chick with a great sense of humour, and lots of knowledge about the opal fields. She even showed us how to send blue claw crayfish sleep.
Then we meet Sam, dressed in pink, Sam is from the tv show Opal Hunters, works with Les and Rod which are called the bushman.
The Sheepyard Inn, was a place to see old trucks and machery, enjoyed scones with jam and cream.
Talked to local miners.
Glengarry Hilton for lunch, also meet James at his art gallery.
The club in the scrub was a place to have cold beer or coke to finish the day, there was much more there that I didn't write about, love all the Fossicking as well, and some found opal bits.
Finally, I finished my sunset painting with gloss varnish and will be added to my gallery at home in Ballina , welcome to visit my gallery by appointment.
Push follow to follow me and you will see all my paintings and travels. Rob Brown travelling artist.

We had an amazing time at Cranky Rock on Day 1. The cost was $15 per car, per night. The view from the top of the large rocks was incredible, offering stunning scenery. The bush tracks and historical aspects were also noteworthy. We had dinner at the Royal Hotel, which is located in Warialda.
Painting to still come.

Called this one "Australian Outback Dust Storm "
Love watching the amazing dust storms approaching, you just don't know how they feel when they hit, as everything and anything can fly in the air, birds fly for cover.
The wind comes alive as Dust starts to get stronger, the whirly whirling which are small round dryed dead bushes blowing up high in the sky. Then like switching off a car engine, and everything falls back to the earth, Dust settles and becomes calm again.
