Sometimes nothing is really wrong with the house.

It just doesn’t feel like you anymore.

I’m an empty nester myself, and I think this stage of life shifts the way you see home.

The kids grow up. The house gets quieter. Your routines change. And suddenly you have a little more space to notice what still feels right, and what belongs to a version of you from 10 or 20 years ago.

That doesn’t mean starting again.

I still believe in keeping the things that hold your history. The artwork, old timber pieces, handmade objects, antiques and all the things that have gathered meaning over time.

The work is in knowing what stays, what changes and how to bring it together so your home reflects who you are now.

That’s the kind of design work I love most.

I said it with love. 😂

Sometimes the problem is not that you need more things. It is that the room has no clear direction.

So you keep buying, moving, second guessing, hoping the next piece will finally make it feel right.

Without a plan, that can go on for years.
With clarity, the decisions get easier. You know what stays, what goes, what belongs and when the room is finished.

That is when a home starts to feel calmer, more connected and more like you.

A little True North Farmhouse update from site. 🌻

The stonework is coming together beautifully, the craftsmanship is really showing, and it’s lovely seeing those early design decisions begin to make sense as a whole.

As an interior designer working across the Southern Downs and Northern NSW, this is one of my favourite parts of a new build. Seeing the exterior materials, colours and finishes begin to connect with the architecture and the land around them.

What I love most about this farmhouse design is that the exterior story began with something so simple: a piece of granite. Its colour and texture helped inform the material palette and gave us a strong reference point for the home.

And of course, no site visit is complete without a cuddle from Boris, who is very ready to move into his new dacha. 🐾
