Before you decide what colour to paint the walls, what fittings to choose or what furniture to buy, there are bigger questions.

Every home has its own language.

It’s in the architecture, the light, the landscape, the things you’ve collected and loved, and the way you actually live.

I spend a lot of time reading those clues before making design decisions.

Sometimes a home needs more colour. Sometimes it needs warmth or texture. Sometimes it needs less. Sometimes the best decision is keeping something you already own and finding a way to make it belong again.

That’s what I mean when I talk about 💕The Language of Home💕.

It’s not about creating a particular look.

It’s about understanding what’s already there, what feels disconnected and what will bring the whole home together.

Once you understand that, the decisions become so much clearer.

There is SO much choice out there.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been visiting suppliers for existing projects and also keeping an eye on what’s new. Furniture, fabrics, lighting, finishes, colours... it doesn’t take long before it all becomes a bit overwhelming.

My job is to filter through all that choice for you.

I know what to look for, what will work together and, importantly, what will work in your home.💕

You don’t need more options. You need the right ones.

That’s where I take away the overwhelm and give you the confidence to move forward.

I’ve never believed good interior design is about imposing a particular ‘look’ on someone’s home.

Sometimes you’re starting with a blank canvas. Other times, there are pieces you already love and want to keep.

I come to interior design with a background in both design and art, and I’m heavily influenced by nature. Colour, texture, materials, balance... nature gets it right again and again.

I look at the people who live there, the architecture, the surroundings and the pieces that already mean something. Then I work out what should stay, what needs to change and what we can introduce to make it all feel connected.

I’m not interested in making your home look like everyone else’s.

I want it to feel like you.

Choosing exterior colours is never just about the paint on the walls or the roof colour.

I look at the roof, brick, subfloor skirting, undertones, architecture, and even the landscape around your home. The emotion and feeling of the house is what lets us breathe.

My Exterior Colour Consultations take away the second-guessing, give you direction, and deliver a real WOW. We even include energy efficiency colours to give you clarity before you commit to changes.

Stuck on your exterior colours? Send me a message and let’s sort it out.

For me, interior design is a collaborative process; it's not about handing over your home, but about working together to shape it in a way that feels right for you.

It’s your home, your life, your style. And that also includes your outdoor environment and how your house connects beyond the walls.

My role is to gently help you see the bigger picture, create a clear direction, and guide you through the decisions so everything comes together in a way that feels natural and true to you, without the overwhelm.

I bring my love for art into the process; I see spaces a little differently. I think in layers, composition, environment, balance, and feeling, the same way I would approach a piece of art. That artistic lens makes my approach more intuitive, expressive, and personal.

That’s exactly what my Style Map is designed to do.

It gives you the confidence to make choices without second-guessing every colour, finish, piece of furniture, detail and even how your interiors flow into your outdoor spaces and surroundings.

You’re still very much part of the process. You just don’t have to figure it all out alone.

You bring what you want to feel and any ideas. I bring the designer’s eye and an artist’s perspective. Together, we create a home that truly feels like you - inside and out.💕

When I first start a regional interior design project, I want to understand how my clients see themselves living there.

What are they imagining? How do they want their country home to feel?

For our True North clients in Tenterfield NSW, the landscape quickly became part of that conversation.

You stand here and see the dry grasses, gums, granite and those hills in the distance. It tells you something about what belongs.

The granite rocks will clad the home, keeping the rich organic nature intact. Then the story will continue by bringing those colours inside, so we honour the landscape.

The house is still taking shape (and currently VERY blue 😄), but the story is already there.

When someone works with me once, that's lovely. When they come back with three more properties, that tells me the process worked.

A farmhouse. A Brisbane home. A Gold Coast property. And now an apartment. Four different spaces, four different briefs, one family who kept coming back.

The secret isn't a signature look. I never asked them to live in my version of a beautiful home. I designed each one around theirs.

It starts with listening. Then turning someone's lifestyle and the way they actually live into a home that feels functional, beautiful and unmistakably theirs.

The greatest compliment isn't hearing "we love it." It's being invited back to do it all over again.

That kind of trust is the whole reason I do this. If your home is on your mind and you don't know where to start, that's exactly where I come in.

Consider this my interior design compatibility test. Tell me which box you are checking first. 👀

I’m not anti trend because I think everything popular is automatically bad.

I’m anti trend because your home should not have to keep changing just to prove it is still relevant.

Good design is not about chasing what is next. It is about understanding what already belongs. What feels right. What has meaning. What will still make sense when the algorithm has moved on.

So yes, I have strong opinions about bouclé, maximalism for the sake of it and furnishing an entire home from one store.

But underneath all of that is one belief:
Your home should look like you live there, not like the internet got there first.

Here for thoughtful homes, strong opinions and design that feels like a person rather than a Pinterest category? Stay close. I think we’ll get along.
