Lighting that earns its place.✨

Choose between black or brown braided cable to suit the space.
Made to order in our Melbourne workshop, with 120V and 240V options available.
Designed for real-world use.

✨It’s the details you don’t notice that matter.

A good light isn’t just about what you see.
It’s also about what goes into making it work properly:quality components, considered details and the care taken at every stage.

Neil makes each Little Anvil piece in our Melbourne workshop, paying attention to the things that might never be noticed once the light is installed.
That’s the point.

When something is made with care, you shouldn’t have to think about every detail. You should simply be able to enjoy the finished piece.

Quality components. Carefully considered. Built to last.

šŸ’”Meet the maker behind Little Anvil.

Neil has been making lights for 20 years, but his eye for well-made objects started much earlier.

Originally from Glasgow, he studied furniture construction and design before finding his way into lighting. Since then, he’s been drawn to objects with a bit of history, clever engineering and a good reason for every detail.

A vintage fire hose nozzle can become a table lamp. An old medical part can find a second life. And sometimes, the best ideas come from simply looking at an object differently.

That curiosity still shapes what happens at Little Anvil today.

Neil designs, makes, solves problems and checks the details himself , from the first conversation about a project right through to carefully packing a finished piece for its new home.✨

Designer. Maker. Detail obsessed.

And that’s a little of what makes each piece distinctly Little Anvil.

So, what makes Little Anvil, Little Anvil?✨

For us, it comes down to care.
Care in how a piece is designed . Not just how it looks, but how it will work in a real space.
Care in the making, with Neil responsible for the first idea all the way through to the finished piece.
Care in the details, from the materials and hardware to the small changes that can make a fitting work better for a particular project.
And care in helping you find the right solution when your space calls for something a little different.

šŸ’”Unique design. Quality components. Care in every detail.

That’s what Little Anvil is about.

šŸ’”Running Little Anvil as a sole trader and doing everything myself is hard, and that's why it's been quiet around here.

What hasn't changed is my obsession with creating unique designs from quality materials. That's here to stay.

The difference now is I've got a bit of help. We've been working quietly behind the scenes, and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you (and maybe more than twice a year).šŸ˜‰

Follow along. There's more to come.

Just a quick heads-up, we are taking a short break, and the workshop is now closed, but we are still accepting orders.

The workshop will reopen on 23 July.

Production will recommence when we reopen, orders will be built on a first-come, first-served basis, and our normal lead times will apply. Until then…. šŸ¹ā˜€ļøšŸ•¶ļø

Three hours, six variants… and, briefly, two photos.
I’m not a pro photographer, so it takes me a while — lots of do-overs to get the angle, the glow, the little details right. I finally got the shots I wanted, took the card home to edit… and the card corrupted mid-transfer. Two images made it; the rest vanished. Data recovery: no luck. Mild despair: yes.

The next morning, I bought a new (not-so-cheap) card, went back, and reshot the lot. Not quite another 3 hours, but almost. They have now all been edited, and I’m delighted with the results — 6 new Knuckle Wall Light variants launching very soon...

PSA from the workbench: In my experience, a budget microSD from Kogan failed me at the worst moment. Yours may vary, but I won’t skimp on cards again. Test them, back up as you go, but use a good-quality one, and keep a spare in the bag.

Stay tuned for the product launch.

Now that the cold weather is upon us in Melbourne, we have decided to chase the heat and head overseas for a quick break to recharge.

Due to current demand, coupled with the lead time required to build certain products, any Wood Beam Lights ordered from today will not commence manufacture until our return on June 20th, and will be built on a first-come-first-served basis.

Off-the-shelf, in-stock items will still ship right up until we leave on June 6th. Last day of business will be June 5th. Any orders received whilst we are on leave will be manufactured upon our return, and shipped as quickly as possible. Regular lead times still apply.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me to discuss your needs, and we will work with you to ensure we can get our products to you as soon as reasonably possible.

Thanks for your understanding and your continuing support of our small business.
