𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 | 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗮

Working with hotel owner ERDI, Dezign delivered the full refurbishment of all 80 guestrooms and suites and the guest corridors, as part of the former Saint Kilda Beach Hotel’s transformation into Novotel St Kilda.

The interiors draw on St Kilda’s eclectic coastal identity, with bespoke carpets and guestroom wallpapers incorporating local references, including Acland Street’s well-known cake shops. Expressive colour and pattern bring a distinct sense of place, balanced with practical finishes and detailing suited to everyday hotel use.

Our integrated team took the project from the initial design concept through to completed accommodation, coordinating interior design, procurement and construction to deliver the bespoke finishes consistently across the rooms and corridors.

Last night, we welcomed hotel owners, operators and industry advisers to Dezign’s Sky Lounge for the inaugural Hotel Exchange.

With the cost of new hotel development continuing to rise, our first discussion, Reposition for Return, asked what existing assets could become - and how owners can tell whether an investment will deliver a return.

We will be sharing our top 5 learnings from the evening next week.

The NoVacancy Hotel + Accommodation Industry Expo returns to International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC) today, bringing together hotel owners, operators, developers, designers and suppliers for two days of industry discussion across hotel performance, operations, technology and design.

Our Director of Client Relations, Charlie Pridham, will join Gemma McCourt from Mandala Hotels & Resorts, Guy Peterson from Redhill Hospitality Group and Brett Salter from ALH Hotels for this morning's panel discussion, ‘Renovations: Smart property upgrades that drive revenue’.

Drawing on perspectives across hotel ownership, operations and refurbishment, the panel will discuss how property upgrades can be planned and prioritised to support stronger commercial performance.

Last month’s Sydney Hotel Summit by AHICE brought together more than 320 hotel owners, operators, developers, designers and industry partners to discuss the opportunities and pressures shaping Sydney and NSW’s hotel sector.

Across the day, discussions covered hotel performance and growth, tourism, new development and refurbishment, technology and the investment outlook.

Our Head of Design, Mike Watson, joined the Interior Design & Architecture Trends panel, where the discussion explored rising development costs, budget pressures, sustainability and adaptive reuse. Mike shared Dezign’s perspective on the importance of aligning design and budget from the outset, with a clear understanding of the owner’s investment objectives and required return.

It was a valuable opportunity to contribute to the discussion and hear perspectives from across the industry on the factors influencing hotel development across Sydney and NSW.

With 20 years’ experience in hotel and hospitality design, Sandrine Nehme has worked across new builds and refurbishments spanning a broad range of project types and budgets.

As an Interior Designer at Dezign, she focuses on design development and detail resolution, considering materials, site conditions, manufacturing requirements and construction methods to ensure the approved design can be successfully delivered.

Working closely with our design and production teams, Sandrine carries this thinking through from concept development and documentation to shop drawing review and production.

For Sandrine, the most rewarding part is seeing the design move from concept and drawing through to the finished space.

Construction continues as the former Mercure Clear Mountain enters the final stages of its transformation into Peppers Retreats, Resorts & Hotels Clear Mountain.

As works advance across the property, the scale of the refurbishment is becoming increasingly evident, bringing the vision for Queensland's first five-star retreat in the City of Moreton Bay one step closer to reality.

Having led the project from the initial discovery phase through to interior design and construction, we’re looking forward to seeing the hotel officially launch as Peppers Clear Mountain next month.

Perth Hotel demonstrates how our Discover, Design, Deliver methodology responds to the realities of complex hotel refurbishment projects.

Working within a refurbishment budget established prior to COVID, a live operating hotel, evolving Crowne Plaza brand standards and the need to maximise commercial return, every decision required careful consideration from the outset.

The Discovery phase established the strategic framework for the project, informing investment priorities, design decisions, procurement and delivery.

By aligning commercial objectives with design outcomes from day one, the project was completed three weeks ahead of schedule while delivering a guest experience that supports the hotel's long-term performance.
