Is your outdoor area getting much use in this weather? 🌧️

We often think about outdoor blinds and awnings for keeping the sun off, but they're pretty handy when the weather turns wet too!

Take this lovely outdoor area, for example. With the addition of these outdoor blinds, our customers have a little more shelter from the elements, without losing the lovely look and feel of their space. And we reckon the striped fabric looks fantastic! It's practical, but it also adds a bit of character.

Not every window in your home needs the same covering. A bedroom, living room, office and entertaining area all do different jobs, so it makes sense that what works best in each space might be different too. Think about how you actually use the room, what you need from the window covering, and go from there. Sometimes shutters might be right. Sometimes Veri Shades, blinds or something else entirely.

Meet Mark!

Mark is one of our fitters/installers, so most days you’ll find him out and about, meeting customers and getting their new blinds, shutters and other window coverings fitted and ready to enjoy.
One of his favourite parts of the job is the people. Mark loves a chat, enjoys meeting different customers and reckons there’s something pretty satisfying about seeing people happy with the finished product once it’s all up.

He also likes that no two days are quite the same. Different homes, different jobs, different people. It keeps things interesting! And outside of work, Mark’s got plenty to keep him busy at home too. He’s got a big family, and when we asked what he does first when he gets home, the answer was quick: spend time with the kids.

We’re very lucky to have Mark as part of the D-Blinds team. Thanks for everything you do, Mark!

With the weather warming up, we thought this one deserved another look. ☀️ A little throwback to this absolute masterpiece over the pool. Plenty of shade when you want it, then open it right back up when you don’t. Pretty clever, and still one of our favourite jobs to look back on!

Two completely different window coverings.... two cosy spaces.

Both give you light and privacy in different ways, but we want to know which look you’d choose for your home? By the way, there aren't any wrong answers here. We like them both!

One thing you might not know about Veri Shades? You can just walk straight through them.

No pulling them open every time you head outside, which makes them really practical for sliding doors, family homes and entertaining areas.

Simple idea, but once you see how they work, it makes a lot of sense.

There’s a pretty good history of great dads around D-Blinds. 💙

This photo was taken 6 years ago in the shop, and safe to say this little poppet has grown up a fair bit since then. Grandad’s picked up a few more grey hairs too.

Brett’s dad started D-Blinds back in 1956, and all these years later Brett is still carrying that on.

We’re lucky to know plenty of good dads, grandads and father figures.

Spring is here, and it’s always a nice time to freshen things up around the home. ☀️

Plantation shutters are one of those things that can completely change the look of a room. Open them right up to let the light in, and tilt or close them when you want a bit of privacy. There are plenty of DIY options around these days, but with shutters, getting the fit right really does matter. Not every window is perfectly square (actually, plenty aren’t!), and a few millimetres can make a difference to how they look and operate.
