LIGHTING INSPIRATION LONDON

Details that delight.

During London Design Festival London Design Festival I came across many sources of inspiration for lighting, from big established brands such as Lee Broom Tom Dixon and APPARATUS to smaller British companies with a singular focus on local design and manufacture.

Then there were the myriad of beautiful restaurants and bars where the lighting helped set the stage for a world class experience.

All were equally as welcoming, and their products deliciously decadent.

LONDON: HERMES MAISON

An absolute highlight of my visit to London for the London Design Festival London Design Festival was a private Cultural Tour of the newly opened Hermes Maison flagship store on New Bond Street in Mayfair.

This very special private tour of the beautiful new store was led by the utterly adorable Cultural Ambassador, Berta.

Berta took us through the fascinating history of Hermès, the story of the building itself, and the extraordinary transformation that has brought this new Maison to life. We were particularly tickled by the wonderful numerological synchronicities connecting key dates in the history of the building, the Hermès brand and its renovation: one of those unexpected details that made an already memorable visit even more magical.

Such a privilege to experience this extraordinary space through the stories behind it.

A huge part of Paris Design Week was visiting monumental historic buildings in the heart of the city, contrasted exquisitely with contemporary installations.

The mix of traditional detailing with the depth of historical architecture, contrasted with playful, evocative art installations is something that is awe inspiring and soul enriching.

PARIS DESIGN WEEK 2026

After the first couple of days of PDW26, it’s fair to say that I’m on the verge of overstimulation.

Paris does design well. Beyond well. Perhaps better than anywhere in the world.

Over the past couple of days, I’ve visited incredible fabric and furniture showrooms, galleries and exhibitions.

An absolute highlight has been a private tour of the exquisite, elegant Paris interior and furniture designer Emma Donnersberg .donnersberg whose apartment has completely changed the way I view design.

No visit to Paris would be complete without stopping in to see my favourite fabric house Elitis with their stunning wall coverings, fabrics and accessories.

The talented designers at Pierre Augustin Rose spoiled me with ch*****ne as I explored their latest collections.

A visit to the newly opened Patrick Roger Garage was an opportunity to see the enormous, breathtaking sculptures of this iconic Parisian chocolatier/designer/visionary in a setting that is truly of another world.

So much more to see and experience, but my creative soul feels saturated already.

I’m in Europe on a work trip, exploring Paris Design Week and then moving on to London Design Festival.

Paris is, in my belief, the source of some of the most incredible architecture, design, history, culture, food and w**e to be found anywhere in the world.

Far from being arrogant, the Parisians are open, generous and hospitable. They are, however, incredibly nationalistic and proud of their talents and achievements.

Yesterday I discovered this chocolate shop nestled in the heart of the Marais.

Patrick Roger Patrick Roger is a master craftsman. A creative force who defies categorization. He has designed this exquisite store (and all the fittings and furniture) to hero his delicately made chocolates.

All of the best of Paris captured into one small but joyous space.

I’ll be sharing more special design experiences over the course of the next couple of weeks as I explore these magical cities.

A NEW PROJECT IS TAKING SHAPE.

We’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on something rather exciting.

A new commercial project for a client whose name many of you will know, but one we’re keeping under wraps just a little longer.

This week we presented our initial concept direction: layered, tactile and sculptural, with a series of spaces designed to each have their own distinct personality.

This is just the beginning!

Not only does it confirm that we’ve done our job well, it also proves that our process is working. A process that has been refined over 26 years of business.

A process that starts with deeply listening to the needs and wants of our clients, reading between the lines where necessary to extract the essence of how they want to feel in their home.

This project isn’t quite finished, so it’s even more special to receive such kind words!

EAST MELBOURNE PROJECT

We’ve been engaged to redesign the public areas of an iconic 1970s apartment building in East Melbourne.

Over the decades, the building has undergone a number of upgrades, many of which have moved away from the character of the original architecture.

In these early-stage concepts, we’ve chosen to lean into what was strong about the 1970s design language, highlighting the expansive ceiling heights, introducing warmth and texture, and maximising acoustic materials to help the spaces feel more intimate and inviting.

The design also considers the balance between practical task lighting and softer ambient lighting, allowing the spaces to transition seamlessly from day to night.
