The brief for this project was to honour and celebrate the homeowner’s Sri Lankan heritage while creating a home that reflects their love for artistic, eclectic, and sculptural design.

Our client is drawn to spaces that feel layered and expressive: far from a standard, minimalist interior.

Throughout the home, every space was thoughtfully refinished, whether through new flooring, custom lighting, fresh paint, or wallpaper.

SHALLOWS: Primary Suite Robe. Once cramped, cluttered and lacking functionality, this wardrobe has been completely transformed into a calm and highly organised space designed for everyday living.

Every item now has a dedicated place, with custom cabinetry concealing belongings to create a clean and streamlined finish.

Thoughtfully divided into his and hers zones, the layout allows for effortless organisation while maximising storage throughout.

To further elevate the space, a skylight was introduced to flood the wardrobe with natural light, creating a sense of openness and airiness that simply wasn’t there before. The result is a wardrobe that not only looks beautiful, but functions seamlessly for the way our clients live.

BEACH VIEW: Kitchen. The vision for this coastal retreat was a harmonious blend of modern sophistication and contemporary coastal charm.

The Kitchen stands as a striking centrepiece, with a liquid metal finish adorning the Island and Rangehood, commanding attention. The Island, designed for both practicality and social engagement, features seating on three sides and an intriguing wave detail that adds an artistic touch.

Cutting-edge elements such as the Pitt cooktop, Zip tapware, and push-to-open electronic drawers elevate functionality, while Corian benchtops and integrated sinks provide seamless elegance.

These clients have meticulously transformed their home over time, undertaking renovations in thoughtful stages. This particular phase encompassed the Kitchen, Living Room, and Powder Room, building upon the success of earlier projects, including the award-winning Main Bathroom and Laundry. These accolades instilled a deep trust, granting us creative freedom to craft an extraordinary design for these new spaces.

We recently completed this exterior renovation of a prominent Art Deco home in the Illawarra, and projects like this are a reminder that great design deserves to be protected, not replaced.

WOODLAWN: Kitchen. In its original 1970s form, this home featured a compartmentalised design with a boxy Kitchen and a small Dining Room at the front, while the Lounge and Living areas were situated at the back – creating a disconnected and impractical layout.

Our client found herself isolated in the Kitchen at one end of the home, far from the social energy of her guests at the other end.

When Stu was brought on to execute a Kitchen renovation, he saw an opportunity to completely transform the home’s flow and functionality. His vision: relocate the Kitchen, Dining, and Lounge to the rear of the house, creating a seamless, open-plan space that embraces breathtaking mountain views.

SHALLOWS: Kitchen. Upstairs, the Kitchen received a cost-effective yet impactful update.

While the existing benchtop was retained, new joinery, a refreshed splashback, oak shelving, and a redesigned rangehood brought warmth and cohesion to the space. Blue accents tie back to the front door, ensuring continuity throughout.

The same detailing continues into the Butler’s Pantry, demonstrating how thoughtful material application can transform a space without a full rebuild.
