The gluggle jugs Gluckigluck.com on the shelf at Mort & Pestle have a genuinely royal history behind the shape.

A pair was made for the Queen and Prince Philip in 1958 and presented to them during a visit to Britannia Naval College, and that's largely why the design became a collector's piece in the first place. We've got them in cobalt blue and green here, with cream and yellow also in stock.

We're a bit obsessed with Madras Link. They're well made and properly finished, and the colourways are designed to work as a set rather than as one-off prints, so a range like this citrus one carries cleanly from the tablecloth through to the napkins and whatever comes next in the same palette.

Line the Mikasa bowls up together and you get a sense of how deep this range actually goes.

These are part of Mikasa's "Does It All" collection, and yes, that's the real name, with each individual pattern carrying its own too: Blue Arc, Red Damask, Leafy Green and a few others in the mix. They're dishwasher and microwave safe, glazed to resist chips and scratches, and small enough to mix and match rather than commit to one pattern across the whole table.

The colour-coded knife drawer at Mort & Pestle in Woodend gets asked about more than you'd think.

These are Victorinox Swiss Classic Victorinox, made by the same Swiss company that's been turning out knives in Ibach since 1884, including the original Swiss Army knife. The serrated edge does real work: it bites through tough skins like tomato and citrus without needing the blade touched up every other week, and the colours make it easy to keep a set together or split tasks across a busy kitchen.

Another close-up from the lemon table this week, this time the salad servers.

These are timber, from the same Madras Link citrus range as the tablecloth and napkins we posted earlier. Paired with the matching bowl, they do what timber usually does next to a bright print: settle the whole thing down a notch so the citrus motif doesn't take over.

The new range from Project Ten has landed at Mort & Pestle, and it's hard to miss on the shelf.

The bags are made from RPET, recycled plastic bottles that get cleaned, shredded and respun into fabric, a process the Geelong-based brand has run since 2019. This drop covers totes, insulated lunch bags, quilted glasses cases and rolled placemats, all in the same run of plaids, florals, polka dots and a horseshoe print.

A closer look at the “Lemon” feature table, this time on the napkins from Madras Link.

Madras Link started in Melbourne in 1990, when three sisters began bringing fabrics and colour from their Indian heritage into Australian homewares, and it's still a family-run business today. These napkins come as a set of four, 45 x 45cm, and we've paired the citrus print with a plain olive green so the pattern doesn't take over the whole table.
