👋 Hello, I'm Jane! ❤️

It's been a while since I introduced myself, and with lots of lovely new followers here, I thought it was about time.

So here's a little bit about the person behind Ruby's Home Store and The Hometastic Box.

❤️ I live on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW with my hubby Stephen and our Golden Retriever, Toby. We have a cat who found us too but she wouldn't agree to be in the photo! 🐈‍⬛

🇬🇧 I'm proudly British but comfortably becoming more Aussie every day. I moved here from the UK in 2009 as a single mum, thanks to my nursing career.

❤️ After 40 years of nursing, I finally hung up my scrubs last year. These days, I'm concentrating on running my little business.

🇦🇺 Stephen is as Aussie as they come. We still occasionally speak a different language! He's my rock, makes me laugh and is always there to help when things get a bit crazy.

🥤 I can't stand tea or coffee. Yes, really! Give me a Pepsi Max any day.

🧶 I love crocheting to unwind, although we now have far more blankets than anyone living in Australia could possibly need!

❤️ I started Ruby's Home Store because I love finding beautiful, quirky and quality homewares from British and Australian designers. Things that are just a little bit different and those that remind me of 'home'.

📦 I'm also the creator of The Hometastic Box, our seasonal home décor subscription box. It's a little surprise delivered to your door four times a year, filled with lovely things to make your home feel special.

Running a small business certainly has its ups and downs, but I love what I've created and the wonderful community that's grown around it.

Life Had Other Plans - Part 13

For years, Stephen and I built our lives around Ruby’s Home Store.

Holidays were few and far between, and there was always another order to pack!

Moving to a fulfilment centre changed more than just the way we ran the business. It gave us some of our freedom back.

But it also brought new challenges, new lessons and some unexpected opportunities.

One of those challenges actually led me to start sharing this series. Who would have thought? 😂

And now, after 13 episodes of looking back at how I got here, we’ve finally caught up with real life!

In less than two weeks, I’m heading to China to explore what’s next for Ruby’s and the Hometastic Box.

I’m excited, a little nervous, and have absolutely no idea what adventures are waiting for me.

But then, life has a funny way of having other plans, doesn’t it? ♥️

Thank you for following my story so far. The next chapter is about to begin!
