Happy Friday! Today I had two sourdough flavours - Jalapeño Cheddar & Rustic White. And of course this week (and back next week) were jumbo sourdough choc chip cookies.

My first ever attempt at German pretzels are pictured! I need wayyy more practice but I think they came out quite nice!

They are made with white flour, salt, water, starter & a little butter. (And Murray River Pink Salt which turned white after baking ;p) That's it!

Sourdough freezes beautifully and when you toast it again it's slightly chewy inside and crunchy outside.

Benefits also include dealing with excess crumbs all over your bench in one session. ;p

I didn't get around to posting this morning as it was a smaller porch pickup, but a big thank you to everyone who ordered this week!

I always appreciate every single order that comes my way. It's not the most convenient thing to order bread 2 (or more!) days in advance and then have to remember to come and collect it from someone's little home bakery 😂

So if you've tried my bread and you're coming back for more, a huge thank you for your effort & continued support as I know it's easier to pop into to the big shops.

Name change! : Traditional is now Rustic White.

Exact same recipe and process - just a name change to create more clarity.
'Traditional' is usually used to describe the shape and free-form bake style.

It's Rustic White: but as usual it contains 10% wholemeal for flavour and health.
I've actually never made a plain white sourdough before..! I feel a touch of wholemeal makes sense for Das Brot :)

Last night I attended the local business awards. Thank you again for all the votes that made me a finalist!

I came home empty handed but it was a fun night regardless and amazing to see so many of my customers also finalists (and a few win in their category!)

Thanks again for all your support and I'll be posting my sourdough baking schedule after school holidays.

Happy Friday! Today is a busy one.
Thank you for all the pre-orders during the week. You're all amazing for following my schedule :D

As most of you know, I'm mum to 4 little people, and I try my best with communication and consistency. However, I do feel I need to supply based on my energy levels as I've recently been feeling really burnt out.

In saying that, I will be closed next week for school holidays. And perhaps the second week of school holidays. I will likely be later than usual with my October menu.

For today - I found myself with a significant amount of leftover starter and decided (rather impulsively!) that Sourdough Hot Cross Buns need to make an appearance at Das Brot this year! I skipped them in April due to a broken wrist.

Anyhoo - no holds for these spares below as I didn't make that much.

🚨Alert! Yet another flash sale! 🚨

It's currently 9am Tues 22nd, the oven is pre-heating, I've currently got Dark Rye Sourdough cold fermenting in the fridge & Sourdough Banana bread continuing to rise at room temp - almost ready to bake but I need it to reach over the tops of the tins first!

I was thinking about opening my home based spare a little later today for walk ins / cash sales, after lunch but i will confirm or edit this post once I have a better idea how long I'll be baking. And otherwise taking holds as usual to leave out for porch pickup.

Banana bread is $10
Dark Rye is $12

Ps I added a little molasses to both for flavour and colour on top of the usual recipe 😀
