Why do you spend so much time and money knitting your own socks? This is why. This pair of work socks have been in and out of my work boots on the regular for over a decade now. They actually cost me next to nothing to knit because they were made from leftover yarn from making my Dad's shearing socks. Last year I replaced the heels but I'm only just now replacing the toes because the fabric is now too thin to darn any holes. Good wool work socks currently run at $20AU or more here and I can guarantee I won't get a decade out of a pair. So $25-30AU for yarn a little time knitting them up suddenly seems quite economical. I wear them in my work boots so they don't need to be pretty, just comfortable. Who knows, I might even get another decade out of them?
