When timber is slabbed in lengths, chunks, how ever it's cut, it has to season (dry) and the long part you ask??? It dries at 1 inch per year on average until the moisture content reads low enough to use. Once it's slabbed and stacked with airflow and weighed down.. the wait begins!
So this stack of beautiful mango sitting here that was slabbed in Yeppoon back in May of 2025 is almost ready to use.

Our creative process part 1 - Slabs
There's plenty of steps that go into creating our boards. We work with slabs of timber that are sometimes bigger than us!
We work with Australian timbers from trees that have fallen naturally or have been ethically removed.
Many of the slabs we get are 'rough sawn' meaning they still have chainsaw / blade marks from being cut into slabs.
Each slab is then carefully thought out with what to cut, where to cut, what to avoid, how to get the most timber usage and what features to keep.
