Polli Katha

Polli Katha Polli Katha is a social enterprise that executes its operations from outside of Dhaka that includes four different districts involved with 100 families.

In the Bengali language “Polli” means ‘Village or Rural’ and “Katha” means wrapper or light blanket to protect from soft cold. Polli Katha is a handicraft house intended to thrive as a social business enterprise. Polli Katha produces katha (thin blanket of two or three layers) with the engagement of underdeveloped rural woman of Bangladesh to ensure a sustainable well developed life by empowering

them and by making them conscious about health and safety, family planning, climactic change and education. Five friends put their heads together to do something following their own style. They want to do something that will ensure financial benefit as well as social contribution. They are very much interested in promoting their own manufactured products. The formed an umbrella Shwapno-Bunon by name and Polli Katha is one of the wings of Swapno-Bunon.
