A hidden gem located in the heart of Antwerp ✨

With great respect for its heritage, this remarkable building is currently undergoing a careful restoration, preserving many of its authentic features. Once completed, it will bring together living, art and knowledge under one roof. Alongside the residence, the building will include an exhibition space and a bespoke oak library spanning the first and second floors, designed to house our clients' beautiful collection of books and artworks.

A New Life for a 16th-Century Building ✨

Behind a historic façade, a remarkable transformation is underway...
Layers of history remain visible throughout the space, while a custom oak library is carefully woven into the original structure.

We had the privilege of restoring this Louis-Philippe townhouse from circa 1855, breathing new life into a remarkable piece of Antwerp's heritage. Working with great care and respect for the building's original character, we restored every detail, from the stained glass and joinery to the elegant façade elements.

Seeing this historic gem reclaim its place in Antwerp's streetscape is what makes projects like these so rewarding.

📍 Antwerp locals, do you recognize this beautiful façade? 😏

"Het onmetelijke bevindt zich in onszelf. Het hoort bij een soort uitbreiding van het het zijn die het leven tempert en die voorzichtigheid onderdrukt, maar die opnieuw opwelt wanneer we alleen zijn. Zodra we tot stilstand komen, zijn we elders; we dromen in een wereld die onmetelijk is." - Gaston Bachelard, 1958

As I've shared in my recent post, we took this project even further by transforming the entire hallway with reclaimed wooden planks from old cheese-aging rooms.

The addition of a simple leather handle provided the perfect finishing touch.

Throwing it back 10 years...

For this kitchen, we repurposed a unique material: reclaimed wooden planks from old cheese maturing rooms, transforming them into bespoke kitchen cabinets.

The natural patina and history of the wood gave the kitchen a unique character.

Looking back at projects like this always reminds me how much my design approach has evolved over the years.
