Material design lab. When experimenting, it's very important if you fail to learn something and to repeat the experiment for a successful outcome. Edison find out 10,000 ways a light bulb didn't work.

Not stone. Not concrete.

This is a sculptural paper composite — built layer by layer to mimic weight, texture, and imperfection.

I’m exploring how far a “soft” material can go… until it starts behaving like architecture.

This bench is part of a larger idea:
designing objects and the materials they are made from.

Would you expect this to be paper?

Available for custom design & projects.

Part 3: Painting the paper-mâché pencil holder 🎨
Same base, two totally different finishes.

🖌️ Option 1: paint it wet with watered-down paint → soft, earthy, blended
🖌️ Option 2: paint it dry with a dry brush → bold texture, sculptural look

There’s no right or wrong — just different moods.

Which one would you choose for your desk?

👇 Comment “WET” or “DRY”

Part 2 of the paper-mâché pencil holder!
Now that the structure is finished, we’re finally moving on to sculpting — and yes, I had to try out my new palette knives. 😅✨

Using a thin layer of paper-mâché, I smoothed one piece and added texture to the other.
Hands first, palette knife second — because both techniques create completely different personalities.

Swipe to see the smoothed vs. textured versions. I can't decide which one I love more.
And honestly… this tutorial is turning into an eternity.

✨ Follow for Part 3 — the final reveal is coming soon!

Building the base for our recycled pencil holder!
Today we’re starting with the structure — using torn pieces of a simple paper bag and shaping the form directly on the can. No perfection needed, just overlapping layers and covering sharp edges to make it smooth and safe.

This is Part 1 of the series — the foundation before the fun textures.
✨ Follow along for Part 2!
🎨 Save this if you want to try it this weekend!

👇 Which material should I upcycle next — cardboard, plastic bottle, or glass jar? Tell me in the comments!

The one thing no one ever tells you about unmolding paper-mâché… 👀
If the inside isn’t fully dry, you will absolutely know it — trust me.
Today I unmolded too early and… boom: deformed shape, soft edges, and a full crack on one side.

When I turned it over, the inside was still wet and sticky.
So yes… we’re starting over. Again. 😅
But you know what? Mistakes become stories — and sometimes even hats. (Swipe to see!) 🌞🎩

✨ Save this if you’re working with paper-mâché — this tip will save your project.

This paper-mâché bottle vase cracked because it dried too fast on the radiator.
Instead of throwing it away, I fixed the cracks using a very fine paper-mâché paste and slow, careful layers.

This is part of working with recycled materials and handmade sustainable art — mistakes happen, and learning how to repair them is just as important as creating.

Paper-mâché teaches patience, flexibility, and respect for the process.
And in the end, the vase turned out just fine ✨
