Some pieces just have that effect…
They make people stop, look through the window and walk into K A Z A R.
And this one has been attracting quite a bit of attention in the shop. Time to share it here too!
The Pretzel Chair, designed by GEORGE NELSON in 1952 and produced by VITRA in 2008 as a special limited Anniversary Edition celebrating the centenary of Nelson’s birth.
Originally called the Laminated Chair, it soon earned a much more playful nickname. Just look at those twists & curves and that extraordinary silhouette and you’ll understand why!
The continuous sweeping curves of the backrest and armrests give the chair an exceptionally light and elegant appearance.
For this 2008 edition, Vitra revisited Nelson’s iconic design in a particularly refined ex*****on, featuring beautiful Santos palisander veneer.
Only 1,000 individually numbered chairs were produced worldwide. This particular one is no. 0259/1000.
More than just a chair, it’s a sculptural piece, a rare collector’s item and a wonderful example of American mid-century modern design.
For now, an eye-catcher at KAZAR.
