Standing renOvation www.standingrenovation.com - working with busy home and business owners to make their renovation enjoyable and fulfilling

I work with home and business owners (often expats needing renovation in Brussels) who:
- need to renovate but don't know where to start;
- don't have time to supervise and manage the process themselves;
- are afraid of renovations as they've heard too many horror stories;
- need to make some home-improvements but need advice and support;
- have some remodelling ideas, but want to validate and/or challenge them;
- want an enjoyable and fulfilling renovation.

The After the Summer – Redesign Your Next Chapter workshop with Geraldine Lo Monaco was the perfect kick-off to relaunch Rise Up!

Yesterday we reflected, shared, and realigned in a way that felt light, fun, and powerful. For me, that mix of energy and depth is everything!

Next week, Rise Up! restarts exclusively for members of The Nine.

It’s for women who want more clarity, energy, and connection in their personal and professional journey, so they can move forward feeling aligned and supported.

A small circle, a shared journey, and sessions that build on each other, creating the kind of momentum and support we rarely give ourselves, but deeply need.

To me, September always feels like a fresh start.

But do you feel it too? That funny in-between feeling? Half missing summer, half craving clarity, energy, and momentum?

That’s why Geraldine and I are hosting a workshop at The Nine: to reset, realign, and step into your next chapter with ease and intention.

It’s also a little taste of Rise Up! (relaunching soon) and of Geraldine Lo Monaco’s in-person energy sessions, both designed to support you in conscious transformation and aligned action.

This time it’s just for The Nine members, but if you’d love to experience a future workshop open to everyone, I’d be so happy to hear from you.

Take a look at these before and after pictures of a garden and terrace I renovated a few years ago with the help of my contractors and Joe Gardens.

With good design, a terrace can become much more than just a plain deck; it can be an extension of your internal space.

On a hot day like today, who wouldn't love staying in the shade outside?

If you're considering transforming your terrace into an inviting outdoor oasis linked to your home, let me know!

What if your lack of discipline isn’t a personal flaw—just a design problem?

I recently came across this quote from Atomic Habits by James Clear:
"Think about self-control less as the quality of a person and more as the quality of a place."

In a world full of noise, distractions, and notifications, it’s easy to feel like we’re failing—when in reality, our environment is working against us.

What if, instead of trying harder, you changed the space around you?
What if your home could support your focus, energy, and well-being—without you needing superhuman discipline?

Design isn’t just about how things look. It’s about how they make you feel, and what they quietly encourage you to do.

→ I’d love to know: what’s one habit you’d love your space to support more?

Ever feel like your home is a puzzle of mismatched pieces?

It happens more often than you think—furnishing gets improvised. Something you own, something bought on impulse. But the result often feels... incoherent.

When I design and coordinate a renovation, most of my clients choose to include the furniture selection too. Why? Because it’s the difference between a house that’s almost there and a home that feels whole.
We create a coherent space that’s beautiful, functional—and ready to be lived in the moment the renovation works are done.

A few days ago, I visited one of my longtime Italian furniture partners: Cinque Punto Zero, a family-owned business I’ve worked with for over a decade. They supply many of the pieces I design into my projects—wardrobes, beds, buffets, bookcases...

Here’s why I love working with them:

- Italian elegance, rooted in design culture and craftsmanship

- Modular flexibility for tailored solutions—without the bespoke price tag

- Rich finishes and materials to suit every space

- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset

- Environmentally conscious production

- And quite simply, they're a joy to work with

This kind of collaboration makes the entire renovation journey smoother, and the result more refined.

Are you planning a renovation and dreaming of a home that feels effortlessly put together from day one?
Let’s talk about how furniture can complete your vision, not be an afterthought.

Drop a message or leave a comment—I’d love to hear what you imagine for your space.

What to do when you are creating your new home from scratch?

This is what happened to my clients who renovated a 1950s detached house completely and had a blank canvas to start from.

I supported them going from bare walls to home.

For this living room, the idea was to create an elegant yet cozy space.
After deciding the layout, we chose the different furniture, and fabric (according to the colour scheme I had suggested), and we even went to Milan to visit the showroom of Frigerio Salotti, , a family owned Italian brand who is one of my suppliers and an example of Italian excellence and craftmanship.

The result is an elegant, timeless, yet functional living room that is the heart of this home.

Before & After pictures speak for themselves.

Here I am showing a kitchen in a beautiful and grand townhouse we fully renovated a few years ago.

The room was not a kitchen before and the space was completely transformed. To help the client visualise the final result, the "project" picture is the 3D visualisation of how it would look.

The style kitchen is contemporary and creates an interesting contrast with the period feature of the house, that were carefully preserved and renovated.

In my projects I design the kitchen according to my clients wishes to make sure it fits both the space and their needs.

🌼 Happy first day of spring! I was about to share some photos of a laundry room from a recent renovation (spring cleaning would have been the theme), but today I want to talk about something that resonates even more with me: the idea of re-novation as a fresh start.

Renovation brings new life into spaces that often look very unpromising at the beginning.

When clients first show me their newly bought places, I can sense their hesitation "Did I make the right choice? Will this home turn out the way I hope?" That’s where the journey begins. I dive deep into understanding their dreams and needs, transforming those into ideas they can visualize. And as they start to see their vision come to life, I watch them relax and realize: yes, they chose well.

Stepping into a newly renovated home is also the start of a new chapter that redefines my clients’ lifestyle and habits.

With or without home renovation, spring is a beautiful reminder that we can shed old habits and embrace new beginnings. So, as we welcome this season of growth, I am curious. What areas of your life can you renovate? What new beginnings are waiting for you? 🌱

Happy spring!

One of the most stressful life events.

They say that moving is one of the most stressful life events. Add a renovation project to be finished before the move and you gain some more points into the stress top list!

What l noticed is that in such occasions our mind starts spinning and keeps us in constant overwhelm, incapable, in my experience at least, of taking calm and conscious decisions.

It's like the quantity of information running through our minds, prevents us from seeing clearly and make us forget the bigger picture and ultimate outcome.

Yes, because in this state, we are likely to forget that the reason for moving and renovating is very likely to move on towards a better (and l add, more beautiful) living.

And the journey to that outcome can be as important as the outcome itself.

My experience has taught me that in these situations it is key to manage our energy, reminding ourselves that we are moving on to something better (but releasing unrealistic expectations for it to be perfect which cause so much stress) and possibly to ask for support.

A professional that is not emotionally involved can help you see the bigger picture, the essence of the space, and then sort out the details in order of priority.

Working with the right person can bring a huge sense of relief. It allows you to enjoy the process and be sure you will love the outcome.

How do I know?

Because in my own renovations l wished l could step out of myself and receive help and support from a non-attached version of myself!
