Today’s prompt is ‘All about you’. Oh the joy of talking about yourself…

I think this photo that my boyfriend took (he’s an amazing photographer) is a good summary: I don’t love having my photo taken, I love tea (hence the blissful face of someone drinking a good cup of tea) and I love the outdoors, hiking and anything to do with nature really.

I love to go wild swimming, and will generally get in open water whenever I get the chance whatever the weather.

I’m originally from the UK but have been living in Belgium for a year and a half now, before that France for a year.

I used to be a primary school teacher but left this role in 2018 after realizing it wasn’t ‘my cup of tea’ and since then have done a whole array of jobs, travelled and generally taking things one step at a time. Now, I work full time as a secretary and try to draw and work on this project whenever i can.

I also have to say a massive thank you to my boyfriend, friends and family who are always so supportive of my art and are always there to boost me up (or help with frantic last minute prep for markets!)

Over the last few years I’ve been seeing the and wanting to have a go but not quite having the guts to do it so this year…let’s have a go ☺️

The prompt for day 1 is ‘brand origin’. I wouldn’t say I am yet to solidify my brand as I’m still in the early stages but I guess my brand for now is Kathryn Maria Art & Design and Kathryn Maria is me!

My logo was inspired by my love for drawings things in circles and clean and simple lines. I have included a yellow sun because I love the colour yellow. It’s just such a happy colour!

The aim of my brand is give the impression on tranquility, nature and warmth. I hope that each drawing I share makes you feel calm and transports you to wherever that location may be: from the lapping of the ocean waves, the rustling of the trees or the clear skies of the mountains.

I know I’m not so good at sharing what I do here on my social media so I hope that this monthly challenge will bring you along so you can get an insight into what I aspire to create with Kathryn Maria Art & Design

Je n'ai pas eu beaucoup de temps pour dessiner récemment, alors voici un petit retour en arrière avec cette aquarelle A5 et cet original à l'encre.

Il y a quelque chose de si délicat dans les feuilles de palmier qui sont si belles à dessiner - c'est un peu méditatif de dessiner les lignes fines.

J'ai vraiment hâte de m'asseoir à mon bureau bientôt - j'ai besoin de faire sortir toutes ces idées de ma tête et de les coucher sur le papier !

Not much time to draw recently so here’s a little throwback to this A5 watercolour and ink original.

There’s something so delicate about palm leaves that are just so lovely to draw- it’s somewhat meditative to draw the fine lines.

Really looking forward to getting sat down at the desk soon- need to get all these ideas out from my head and onto paper!

Après une pause pendant les vacances, je voulais venir ici et dire un grand merci à tous ceux qui m'ont soutenu l'année dernière. Vous êtes incroyables et j'apprécie vraiment votre soutien !

Pour ceux d'entre vous qui viennent de se joindre à nous, bienvenue !

Je m'appelle Kathryn et je suis l'artiste derrière Kathryn Maria. Je suis originaire du Royaume-Uni mais je vis ici à Bruxelles depuis un an et demi. J'ai un travail à temps plein mais j'espère qu'un jour je pourrai utiliser ma passion pour la créativité comme une occupation à temps plein.

Mon art est inspiré par la nature et les voyages avec une touche géométrique et j'ai tellement d'idées que je suis impatiente de les partager avec vous tous !
