The Tapio Wirkkala Modernist Necklace called « Tähtitaivas » (Starry Sky) is a silver pendant designed by the renowned Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala in 1967. It features a modernist design decorated with zircon stones and was made by the Kultakeskus Oy workshop in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The pendant measures about 5.3 cm in height and 3 cm in width, with a chain length of 45 cm. It is a sterling silver piece, often hallmarked to indicate authenticity and origin. This necklace is recognized as a classic example of Finnish modernist jewelry design, combining elegant form with a celestial theme suggested by its name « Starry Sky ».

Rauno Sorvo seems to have mainly worked in Turku (Åbo), a city known for its goldsmithing tradition. His style fits into the Scandinavian design of the time: clean lines, solid silver, sometimes modernist or abstract inspiration. He is not as famous as well-known names like Pentti Sarpaneva or Tapio Wirkkala, but his jewelry is appreciated by collectors for its craftsmanship quality and typically Finnish authenticity.

No detailed biography, major exhibition, or official international recognition is currently associated with him, which means his work is mainly known through pieces circulating on the second-hand or vintage market.

This is a pair of 403 Hallway chairs with black lackered plywood seat and birch frame. No more edition of this wonderful model.

This is one of the chairs that Alvar Aalto designed for the Paimio Sanatorium. Its stackable frame and seat are crafted from form-pressed birch veneer. Instead of using traditional metal tubes, Aalto wanted to use something warmer and more human. Armchair 403 was released in 1932.
