A look back at COMPOSED MATTER at 3daysofdesign.

Curated by Norm Architects, the exhibition brought together SUMUM, Søuld and Motarasu in a quiet exploration of material, light and space.
For SUMUM, it was an opportunity to show architectural hardware in the context it belongs to: as part of a complete spatial experience. Alongside the natural acoustic materials of Søuld and the sculptural lighting of MOTARASU, our switches and finishes became part of a layered environment where light, surface and material were constantly in dialogue.

Thank you to Norm Architects, Søuld, MOTARASU and everyone who visited COMPOSED MATTER in Copenhagen.

Architectural hardware, reduced to its essence, can quietly reinforce the material palette and bring everything into balance. Not by standing out, but by belonging — in tone, in texture, in presence.
A considered finish doesn’t ask for attention. It ensures the space feels refined, down to the last detail.

In June, SUMUM joins Søuld and Motarasu in Copenhagen for COMPOSED MATTER, an exhibition curated and spatially designed by Norm Architects.

A meeting of materials, light and crafted details. Of surfaces that carry texture. Of objects that quietly shape atmosphere.
Together, Søuld, SUMUM and Motarasu explore how design can be felt as much as it is seen, each from its own perspective on craft, heritage and materiality.

With contributions from Sara Martinsen, Amanda Betz, Isabelle Yamamoto, Signe Hytte , Fischer Gardiner A/S and Dedar Milano.

In their own residence, Sofie Walravens and Thomas Weets create a space where architecture and interior are fully aligned. Large windows draw in natural light, enhancing the soft tones and tactile materials throughout the home.

Sumum architectural hardware is applied as part of this material continuity. Finishes are carefully matched, allowing switches and outlets to blend seamlessly into the overall palette while adding a quiet layer of refinement.

For SUMUM, it’s a way of showing our architectural hardware as part of a bigger whole, integrated into a setting where details, finishes and ideas align.

For Mill 13, am designs approached the existing structure with restraint; preserving its character while opening it up to light and landscape. Pure lines and a sense of calm define the space.

Sumum architectural hardware follows that same logic. Integrated as precise, minimal elements, switches and outlets support the architecture rather than interrupt it, reinforcing the project’s clarity and quiet rhythm.
