Serax is a Belgian design brand, creating contemporary homeware with international designers. This quickly proved to be right on target.

More than 20 years ago, Axel and Serge Van den Bossche decided to establish the Serax interior decoration brand. Very quickly, the initial collection of flowerpots expanded into an extensive collection of different decorative accessories for the interior. With its characteristic and unique style, Serax responds to the needs of florists and interior decor retailers who are looking for creative objects to use in the interior. Over the years, the company developed a valuable reputation in its sector. Serax is well-known for its affordable design products, and for its excellent customer service.

40 years of Serax, 30 years of Marie Michielssen.

For Belgian designer and artist Marie Michielssen, the journey with Serax began with hand-painted vintage strawberry pots. What started with decoration gradually evolved into design, as she began experimenting with new materials and techniques—from concrete and papier-mâché to furniture, lighting and ceramics. Three decades later, her work remains deeply intuitive, tactile and unmistakably personal.

“I quickly missed the freedom of making things with my hands. At a certain point, a friend approached me with the question of whether I could help her create authentic pottery. That is how I started painting vintage strawberry pots. Eventually, I started looking for a company that could support me, and that is how I ended up at Serax. The pots were an immediate success.” — Marie Michielssen

Thirty years of creating by hand, following intuition and allowing one material to lead naturally to the next. Through it all, one thing has remained unchanged: Marie still designs everything at home, entirely analog.

40 years of Serax, 7 years of Vincent Van Duysen.

For Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen, the collaboration with Serax began with a shared understanding of quality, materiality and timeless design. Passe-Partout and August marked the starting point: collections guided by simplicity and material honesty, designed to fit naturally into daily life. Over the years, that shared language has evolved across tableware, furniture and outdoor pieces, while remaining rooted in the same quiet sense of balance.

“It all started when I was working on my first hotel project in Antwerp, Hotel August. For this project, we wanted to design everything—every detail was custom-made for the space. We created a full outdoor collection as well as a tableware collection specifically for the hotel. It felt important that the objects reflected the same atmosphere as the architecture. That is how my relationship with Serax began.” — Vincent Van Duysen

Seven years of creating objects that don’t demand attention, but become part of the spaces and rituals of everyday life.
