A dream table, set in Japan.
"We started from our own Japanese home, where we spend half the year," says Ringo Gomez. "It's an old house that once belonged to the grandmother of a friend. Completely back to basics, but its beauty more than makes up for that.”
It sits in Matsushima, a small town in northern Japan, overlooking a bay dotted with 260 tiny islands — some no larger than rocks floating on the water. The haiku poet Matsuo Bashō was said to have been left speechless by its beauty.
A garden, two tatami rooms, and an engawa: the corridor-like space of wooden floors and paper sliding doors that sits between the tatami rooms and the outdoors.
