Treasure hunting in Japan. Sourcing parts for the next collection.
Sunday morning finds. Tokyo, antique markets blend in with the temples. This adds a special charm to the Sunday morning treasure hunt! Tomioko Hachiman Shrine, Hanazono Shrine & Arai Yakushi Shrine this morning! Today's goal was to find Hibashi, brass chopsticks used to handle charcoal in a small piece of furniture for making tea. I'm transforming these into bracelets. I also found another item, a Hahinanashi (a small shovel for scraping ashes), which will be made into a ring. Rare and unique items that I'll bring back for you soon.
More finds! I am showing you an amazing treasure! A collection of katana pieces, called "Zanketsu," which will soon be transformed into bracelets. Unique and rare pieces! It might not seem like much, but finding these pieces is a real hunting.
For those interested in the history: in Japan, if you don't have a permit to own a katana, the sword will be cut into pieces (sacrilege!!!). Once cut, it's called Zanketsu.
