Small Business Month Series: Sweet Williams Co. 🌸
October is Small Business Month, and this year I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to use this month to champion some of the incredible small businesses and business owners in our community, but especially the people behind them.
As a small business owner myself, I know that behind every storefront, service, product or creative idea is a person who took a chance on themselves. Someone who has poured countless hours, heart, energy and probably a few late nights into building something they believe in. ❤️
Small business is so much more than simply shopping local. It’s knowing the person behind the counter. It’s watching someone’s business grow alongside their family. It’s cheering when they take a big leap, showing up when things are hard, referring your friends, attending their events and celebrating their wins.
And some of these business owners have become much more than colleagues or fellow entrepreneurs to me. They’ve become friends, mentors, collaborators and people I genuinely care about.
So throughout October, I’ll be sharing a Small Business Month Series highlighting some of the wonderful local businesses and business owners I’ve had the privilege of knowing, working with and growing alongside. 🌿
First up is a very special friend of mine…Sweet Williams Co 🌸
Oh, Sweet Williams Co
I have had the joy of watching this business (and my dear friend Amanda) flower over the years. Amanda was once a client of mine with her children, and since then, I’ve had a front-row seat to so many seasons of her life. I’ve watched her raise her three beautiful littles (who I absolutely adore!) while also nurturing and growing her beautiful flower shop. 🌿
What started as a leap of faith (opening a flower shop out of her garage) has blossomed into a storefront right here in Airdrie. And while the business has grown, so has Amanda. There’s something so fitting about comparing Amanda to a little flower seed. She planted something with a whole lot of faith, watered it with hard work, patience and perseverance, and over time, it has grown into something beautiful, not just as a business, but as a mother, business owner and bright light in our community.
One of my favourite things about Amanda is the way she brings people together. From flower workshops and date nights to community events and Chamber of Commerce gatherings, she has created a space where people can connect, create and feel welcome.
And I’m especially grateful that she shares a little piece of her space with me by carrying and displaying my books. 📚💕
Thank you, Amanda, for pouring so much love into our community and for reminding us what can happen when we have the courage to plant a seed and keep tending to it.
