Here’s is my finished window trim, I use 2-3 coats of polyurethane after the stain is dried and I attach the pieces with a brad nailer. Lots of work to do five of them, but it looks so much better in here. Now, back to my kitchen project!

For those who are following my window trimming, the next pieces are the side casings (Photo 1) After that the head casing, which is 3 pieces, (Photo 2) and then the bottom apron which sits under the bottom sill. (No photo) So we have 10 pieces, and remember I have 5 windows to trim, so 50 pieces in all. I then stained them, but did each window separately so that I could keep track of what went where (see Photo 3)

So to trim my windows, first I measure for the bottom sill piece (Photo 1) At this point the pieces are all pine, 3/4” thick (unless noted as otherwise), not sanded and not stained. Note the wings that come out each side, actually called horns, that will allow the side casings to sit on.
Next are the inner sides, or jambs. (Photo 2) I had to plane these to 1/2” thick or they would be covering the window frames.
Following this is the inner top, head jamb. (Photo 3) Also planed to 1/2” thick.
So far we are at 4 pieces.

Here’s the fabulous view out one of the windows in my workshop. Problem is, they still aren’t trimmed, and there are five windows. Will show my solution in the next few posts.

My list of places on PEI that I have painted signs for is now at 125!
I’ve been making them here on the island for over 10 years and appreciate the support.
Some are available at local gift shops and I’m always taking orders for any place and any colour.

I just sold my fisherman welcome sign and here it is displayed beside a really nice lighthouse (not mine) on the buyers property. Thanks to all who appreciate my work!

Last week I finished the cupboards under the kitchen sink. One side is for garbage and the other for compost. They had to be shallow due to the piping underneath. Originally the sink was to the right and not centered under the window. I need things centered, so thanks to my husband’s plumbing expertise, it’s now centered. This left a larger space width wise for the sink cabinet, but no worries, since I made them all, I could make them wider than standard!

I’m STILL working on my kitchen. I collect blue and white china and in this small house there is not really anywhere to display it. So… I built 9 small cabinets above the kitchen cabinets and ran a rope light across. I’ve just finished the doors, added hinges and pulls (so much work!) and put some of my china in there. Still need to put some type of molding at the ceiling, frame the window and today working on pull-out garbage and compost bins under the sink.
