Our passion, our story:

Welcome to the page of Saltwater Country- formerly know as Homespun for the Homestead. Together with their partners, Pennie Hancock and Shelley Decker have turned their love of country crafting into what is now the largest Country and Giftware store on the Southern Shore.

This team of friends have been crafting and selling their wares since 2013 but their craft bug hit much earlier than that. Our wallets and our partners can attest to many crafting passions over the years including quilting, scrapbooking, furniture upcycling, knitting and crocheting and woodworking. Combining all those skills and passions together, we started creating wooden and sewn crafts with a distinct country flair in the winter of 2013. There was no looking back! From hand made dolls, snowmen and tabletop décor to tree ornaments, candle dipping and furniture- we’ve done it all and enjoyed every minute of it. We have been known to paint outside in the dying sunlight hours and be up the next morning to do it all again. All a necessity while juggling jobs and busy family lives!! We have proudly sold in local craft shows and will continue to do so while operating our newly opened store front- Saltwater Country- at 801-807 Southern Shore Highway, Bay Bulls. If the beautiful scenery along the Irish loop doesn’t bring you our way, we hope that the store itself will!

With over 2300 square feet of retail space, we boast an eclectic mix of vintage, country, and nautical home décor and giftware. We regularly add new products to our inventory- many of which were made in-store by us! We have made Farmhouse style signs, small furniture pieces such as stools, cabinets, tables and shelving as well as tabletop décor. We pride ourselves in being able to say that much of our inventory is crafted and finished in store, all to be sold to our customers. Being able to sell our own pieces in the store enables us to add a variety of products that cannot otherwise be purchased wholesale and also allows us to custom these pieces to our customers colour and size requests. Saltwater Country also brings locally made craft ware and products to our customers in the form of dry goods, jewelry, wood crafts, quilting, knitting and books by local authors. All of which appeal to locals and tourists alike. As a new store front, Saltwater Country is regularly adding new product lines to our inventory so drop by often as there are always fresh and unique items to see. We would love to see you drop in!
