Belgrave Church 4'x5' acrylic Cindy McKenna Art
I have been driving past this tree just south of Belgrave for 8 years now. Each time I pass it I am struck by the loneliness of it - the way the light falls around it, the way the hanging branch has hung in there for over 8 years. Every storm, I figure this will be the one that knocks it out, yet it still remains. When the farmer put the wooden boards up around the tree I felt like weeping. What was this tree becoming to me? I watched the cattle sitting under the tree, competing for every bit of shade they could find. They never seemed to notice the branch hanging over them, or maybe they knew something I didn’t.
I have painted this tree before... with many prayer trails surrounding it.
Yes, it has become an obsession, my own personal marker along the road home.
Seems like this is how God speaks to me. He keeps my eye on things long enough to hear his whisper, even if it takes years.
It didn’t stop with the tree. There was another place that I could never let go of. The old Anglican church in the centre of town. A place long abandoned, crumbling and forlorn. I wanted that church. I wanted it to thrive, to come to life. Started to pray for resurrection and new life for the church - joining with God’s heart of love for each person who has felt the abandonment, and disappointment in church buildings and man made things.
He is coming back for a church without spot or wrinkle and he is faithful in love and able to do more than we can think or imagine.

We were at the AGO yesterday getting inspiration for the Kids "paint like Monet" class coming this Sat. Beautiful inspiration - There are a few spots left for young artists
