To wash or not to wash, that is the question🤔
——I am talking about sheepskin🐑😄
🌸In general, for the long-wool rug, dry cleaning is the best option.Try to avoid washing with water.
Our curly-wool rug can be hand-washed or gently machine washed.
💦However, the combination of water and leather can be tricky. If done wrong, you could end up with a shrunken or hardened hide.
📝Let’s go through it step by step.
1. Pre-cleaning
Shake thoroughly and gently brush the wool to remove dust and debris. This helps protect the fibres during washing.
2. Cold water & mild detergent
Use cold water (≤30°C) with a wool-safe detergent or pH-neutral baby shampoo.
3. Gentle washing
Fully submerge the rug and gently press or swish. Soak for 5–10 minutes.
Do not scrub or wring.
4. Rinsing & water removal
Rinse thoroughly until no soap remains.Gently press with towels or use a short, low-speed spin.
Do not twist or wring.
5. Air drying
Lay flat in a cool, shaded, well-ventilated area. Allow to air dry for 24–48 hours.Avoid sunlight, heaters, and tumble dryers.Reshape gently during drying.
6. Finishing
Once completely dry, shake and brush to restore softness and volume. Gently massage the leather side to soften if needed.
